Will the computer trade for anything?

I'm Mexico and I'm trying to trade some land with my American pals. They have 200+ relations with me. No matter what I offer they won't trade any land with me! I wanted one piece of NW New Mexico, which is surrounded by Mexican land. I offer Pueblo, Colorado as well as Hawaii and about 14000 bucks. But no, they refuse to trade. Any suggestions?

They presumably have a core on the province in question, which leads them to be very reluctant to trade it away.

Do you know what a core province looks like? Click on the country you want to trade with, then click on where it says 'Relations'. You'll see that many of their provinces have a red circle in the middle of them. That means they consider those provinces 'cores' and will never trade them to you for any amount. If you want them, you have to take them in a war.

Ah, I see. I have been reading an AAR about Texas where the guy running it is trading provinces left and right! It inspired me to try the same thing but with no luck.

I've seen a post around here that demonstrated that the AI will trade for anything (specifically lots of money) even on core provinces. Try offering more money, they'll bite eventually.

The AI will NEVER trade a core province.

The only way to make it do so is to use the 'neville' cheat.
