Will this game assume you are well-versed in Stellaris?

I bought Stellaris when it was first released and played about 80 hours and never played it since. It was great, I guess I just was doing other games. I am so removed from all of the changes over the years that I probably will never pick Stellaris up again because I am not sure I want to take on that challenge of obtaining a working knowledge again.

My question is per the Subject, can I start and enjoy ST Infinite without (much) knowledge of Stellaris, or is it assumed that you need a sound understanding of present day Stellaris to be able to jump right in and enjoy? Thank you.

I would expect that, as it's a separate game, it would have a tutorial/help system. I very much doubt they would release a game that assumes knowledge of another game people may never have touched.

For every Stellaris player there are a thousand Star Trek fans so I sure hope it can stand on its own.

I fear i have bad news for you; when you pick this game up on release, you have the challenge of obtaining a working knowledge about it from the start!

Jokes aside, Stellaris is far better and accessible than before. You should try it again, have no fear its not as complex as it might seem. And it should give you a head start when ST Infinite launches as it is basically build on the same fundamentals.

Yes, we don't expect you to know Stellaris to play this game. It won't hurt, we have a lot of similar mechanics, but we onboard them as well as Stellaris does.

Now saying that, we are a Paradox Game at heart, and that means that understanding a concept after 3-4 hours of gameplay and wanting to restart again to do a better play is part of the fun. Learning through play is how Paradox Games grow on you.

If you never played Stellaris, I would argue that Infinite is easier to get into than Stellaris.
