Win2000

Does the game run on Win2000? Got it running fine on my home machine running Win ME, but I want to put it on my laptop as well so I can play as I pretend I'm working at the office. Laptop is running Win2000.

I've noticed some posts about people running Win2000 and was wondering if there were some tricks to making it work...

The only W2K problems that I've seen here are to do with the latest 1.09 patch, and even then I bet that this is more to do with what kind of CD drive installed than anything else, since at least one person reported in saying that it'd installed just fine on their system.

I'd say give it a go and let us know what happens.

Our experience is that it runs better on Win2k than WinME. WinME seems to handle sound different than for example Win2k or Win98. I have no idea why.

I run EU 1.09NA on Windows 2K without any problem (also on Windows 98).

Load it up and spend some quality time at "work".

Worked fine until I installed the 1.09 patch. Got the SafeDisk picture and then ... nothing.

Is the 1.08 patch still available for download?

i'm playing it on a VAIO laptop with DVD drive and win2k.

Everything going well with NA version 1.09


SOme crashes when i have too many wars at once

Only other suggestion I have - did you un-install the old version and re-install EU then 1.09 then IGC (if you use it)??.

I always do this between game upgrades.

Same here BTW, Paradox referred me to Strategy First, but unlike Paradox they don't bother answering their email so I think that we're stuffed and will have to stick to 1.08 :-(

Oddly enough, I have had no problem whatsoever running under ME. Not a single crash I can think of through probably 100+ hours of play.

Can't get it to work with win2000 and patch 1.09, however.

One thing I just got from Mike at Strategy First.

SafeDisc does not like PGP. If you are running PGP and are having problems running EU (w safedisc), try disabling PGP.

I am ashamed to admit I don't know what "PGP" is.

I uninstalled PGP...presto...EU worked under win2k. The odd thing is is that I have PGP installed on my desktop running win98...EU runs fine. Oh, well. Now if I can only get B+W to run under win2k...
