I have been playing a Rome Restoration play through from the Charlemagne start date and have had a lot of fun trying to recreate the Roman Empire and have made it all the way to 8 August, 1045 where my Ironman save is at. However, upon trying to play my save it crashes without fail for me on 15 August, 1045.

I have had a few other similar CTDs during this playthrough, that only started after I upgraded to the 2.7.2 beta patch due to some annoyances with the Secret Societies on 2.7.1. Those few crashes were never repeatable however and after restarting the game and reloading the save I was able to continue just fine.

I am not really sure of the specific cause of this crash but I have enabled the "-debug -debugscripts" launch options in order to try and diagnose the issue a bit, and the 'error.log' file does produce a few lines which I will upload in addition to my save file itself.

I am playing with all of the DLC enabled, though Sunset Invasion is disabled in the rules among some other rule changes which I am not really sure matter.

I would really love to not lose this save, as I have put a great deal of time into it and had a great deal of fun over my ~300 or so years of play time. I am currently only about 2 counties away from being able to recreate the Roman Empire so losing my save after all that work would be quite crushing.

Im willing to upload any more useful information if that is necessary, I would love to get this resolved!

Did it produce a dump file as well? If so please attach that and I'll log a bug on it.

I just checked, no dumps are actually created on crash in the Crusader Kings II/dumps directory in my documents folder, my most recent one is from two days ago, on the same save but not from the same crash so I doubt it actually helps. I'll upload it anyway though.

The good news is that crash does not occur when the game is run in the current internal beta for the 2.8 patch. So it seems the bug is already fixed!

The bad news is that i can't guarantee saved game compatibility between 2.7.x and 2.8 ... the devs usually only announce such things in the release day patch notes.
