My computer sometimes completely freezes during autosaves, the only thing to do when it happens is to restart it, i'm not sure what triggers this so i'll try to explain my understanding of the issue as clearly as i can :

-On a given save, the problem starts around year 1100 and gets more frequent until year 1300, then it happens basically every 5 minutes. I haven't played on any of my two saves past this point because it's too annoying.

-I can sometimes tell that it's going to happen because sometimes some textures go blank and it means i have 1-2 autosaves before a freeze

-Even if my computer freezes the save is complete, if i restart the game i'll be at the moment it froze.

-The game only uses 1.5GB of ram, i know the game is 32bit but shouldn't it be able to use more ? I've got 8GB of ram and it's not completely used while i'm running the game.

I've tried checking game files on steam and uninstalling the game, it doesn't help.

My theory is that for some reason the game has a hard time saving over the same savefiles too often and ends up doing something wrong which corrupts the file and somehow causes my computer to freeze.
My save files are most certainly corrupted but there's no reason to think what has happened to my last 2 saves won't happen again if i start a new game.

I'd like to know if there are any solutions to this, thanks.

My specs :
Operating System: Windows 10 Famille 64-bit (10.0, Build 17763) (17763.rs5_release.180914-1434)
System Model: GX60 1AC/GX60 3AE/GX60 3BE
Processor: AMD A10-5750M APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics (4 CPUs), ~2.5GHz
Memory: 8192MB RAM
Graphic Card : AMD Radeon HD8970M

Has this always happened ever since you've had the game? Or only since what change or update?

DXDIAG is a program you run from a command prompt or the Windows start menu 'run' dialog box (or 'search programs' in Windows 7 or later). After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach your Documents/Paradox/CK2/settings.txt.
From your Documents/Paradox/CK2/logs/ folder, attach system.log .

Please report the temperatures of your CPU and video (GPU)
1/ before starting the game up and
2/ after say 10 minutes' play.
If your PC's vendor has given you no way of reading temperatures, install
SPEEDFAN http://www.almico.com/sfdownload.php

Any given save ? So no matter what date/bookmark you start your campaign ?
Then i'd personally rule out the world-conquest or too many dynasty members issue of late game.

Sounds to me like either a heat issue with the graphics card
or
the game uses the weaker integrated graphics unit instead

Regarding heat :
https://www.notebookcheck.net/AMD-Radeon-HD-8970M.90656.0.html
Power consumption of the 8970M is in the same ballpark as the GeForce GTX 680M. The subsequently large heat output suits the 8970M as an option only for large laptops or DTRs (desktop replacements) equipped with relatively powerful cooling solutions.

Regarding the weaker GPU GPU Radeon 8650G :

I'd think tech support could still make use of the temperatures.
Good luck

PS: Looking at system.log it appears that indeed the integrated GPU gets used instead of the better card.
Graphics device: AMD Radeon HD 8650G
Tech support will know.

Yes, you'll need to use whatever utility AMD has for forcing the game onto the AMD Radeon(TM) HD8970M card - Catalyst is it?

And those temps would be useful, thanks.

Ok so last time i couldn't upload the GPU temperature for some reason
Since the game updated to 64 bits i haven't had any problem until my new save reached 1300 and the the problem started again.
64 bits seems to help but it doesn't solve the issue, maybe it's RAM related ?

CPU & GPU temperatures are quite high, they've always been for the 6 years i've had my computer and it has never caused this kind of issue, my hardware is getting old but so far i haven't had this issue on any other game.

I'm sure the game runs on my Graphic cad and not on my chipset

First i've set the game to "High performance" in AMD catalyst's switchable graphics option then my computer has a let which indicates one which i'm running, white means it's the chipset, orange means it's the card.
It's orange when i'm playing

How high, exactly? 80c is my redline.
72°C for the GPU and 82°C for the CPU, it's on the screencaps in my last post

Your system.log above says the game is running on:
[gfx_settings.cpp:144]: Graphics device: AMD Radeon HD 8650G
I don't know this hardware well enough to know whether that or the AMD Radeon(TM) HD8970M is the more powerful GPU.

While not extreme, 82c is over my redline and I suggest you look into that.

Clean out all air vents it has (compressed air cans are good for this). Make sure airflow to them is not blocked by anything like walls, books or whatever.
If that doesn't drop the temps enough, you probably have a faulty fan or a heatsink/thermal paste problem. You may need professional help at that point.
