Please do a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-Imperator
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/Imperator AND Documents/Paradox/Imperator folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add imperator.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular you need to make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam Imperator or Documents Imperator locations, before installing again.

I did this. step by step. and it made the problem worse.

the initial issue was what others are describing:

if launched from the .exe: Singleplayer -> New game -> stuck on loading.
if launched from the paradox launcher: black screen -> crash to desktop. crash reporter also crashes (wow..)

after following the steps, the only 'fix' floating around here, now this:

if launched from .exe: black screen -> crash to desktop. crash reporter also crashes (this only happened to the para-launcher, after the 'fix' it became the norm for the .exe)

if launched from paradox launcher: I CANNOT GET THE USER-AGREEMENT TO GO AWAY! you can scroll all the way down -> click continue -> nothing happens. the thing won't go away, all I can do is close the para-launcher.

I started troubleshooting around 2:45PM and it is now 6:48PM and I'm ready to give up. what was I doing for THREE AND A HALF HOURS!? uninstalling, deleting, reinstalling, making exceptions, verifying files, again and again and again and again.

admittedly I wasn't doing the steps properly because I had my ransomware protection turned off so I figured I could skip the step. so I didn't this time, I did it, very carefully, step by step (had to enable the ransomware to add the exception) and now I can't get into the screen where we select singleplayer. just black screens + crash to desktop. I hate this day.

No mods involved?

You are absolutely sure you cleared out both the Steam-IR and Documents-IR folders before installing again?

DXDIAG is a program you run from a command prompt or the Windows start menu 'run' dialog box (or 'search programs' in Windows 7 or later). After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach your Documents/Paradox/Imperator/pdx_settings.txt.
From your Documents/Paradox/Imperator/logs/ folder, attach system.log .

Hello. Instead of starting a new thread, I'll rather continue this one.

My game was perfectly working on version 1.2 (though I didn't play much and waited for the update instead), but after the Livy update I am stuck with a half loaded start menu screen, then the game crashes after a while. I followed all the guideline but my problem isn't solved. No mods involved, and I am absolutely sure I removed both folders before complete re-installation. I also added imperator.exe to the whitelist of Avast Antivirus.

Here is the DxDiag.txt, pdx_settings.txt and system.log.

checksum is f1f9. The game loads up to that phase without problems.
