Hello,
I've been playing EU4 since launch on the same computer with steam, for about a year now I can't finish a game because sooner or later the game crashes when I save or load. Sometimes even just by clicking on the "save" or "load" button. If I try several times I can be lucky and the game ends up loading but the more the game progresses the more I encounter this problem... I have never been able to exceed 1700. I have tried with and without dlc, by lowering the graphics options to a minimum, activating or not the cloud or save compression, reinstalling the game, deleting all files and folders of game saves etc... sooner or later it happens. With big mods like MEIOU it happens even from the first month... It seems that my computer can no longer manage the backups, it makes me desperate.
Do you have any tips I could try?

PS: sorry I'm not an english speaker

We cannot help with modded games here, I am sorry.

Does this ever happen with a campaign that's never had any mods used in it?

Please attach here a save game that shows this problem, which has never had any mods used in it. Thanks.

Sorry? So you can load it once alright, but not again in the same play session?

What if you then exit EU4 and run it again - will it load first time then?

Tried three times to load this savegame, succeeded twice and failed once. If I advance in the game the failure/success ratio increases until I can't load it at all.
From what I've seen the first load after launching the game is the hardest (or if I choose the resume in launcher option).
Ultimately I have to start a new game with a small country of Australia, then load my game to have a chance of the loading succeeding.

I tried your save (after returning to version 1.30.6 and deactivating all DLCs after Art of War like your save indicates) and I had no problem loading the save. I tried it three times from the menu and about 10 times from within the game.

How much free RAM and disk space(on the drive which contains your Documents folder) do you have before starting eu4? Maybe your computer runs out of space.

Disclaimer: I'm not working for Paradox. I'm just trying to help people.

I have 5Gb free Ram before I start eu4, juste steam is runing.
But the strangest thing is that after a while I can't even access the menu of my saves, I click on "save the game" or "load the game" and the game freezes before the menu with all my saves appear... I have to play relying only on the automatic saves and the "resume" option of the launcher...
I tried to reinstall my game and delete the entire documents/files/paradox file but the problem persists...
Maybe it's a problem with C++ or something else? What can I try to uninstall/reinstall other than the game?

How many saves do you have in your save games folder? To show the list, eu4 opens all of them to extract the country and date and this can take a long time if you have many saves or not on an SSD. Does it help if you move all other saves to a different folder?
