So. I installed Win 7 x64 Ultimate (retail version). Geforce 8800, 32 bit depth, 1024x756

Then, I installed Doomsday (and Vicky). Now, here is the problem:

If I try to start either of these, my screen turns black, and the computer, while indicating a HDD acess (light flickering), will not respond to anything, so I have to restart.

I tried circumventing this by using compatibility mode (XP SP 2), same result. I install the newest NVidia driver, same result.

I suspect that this has something to do with the display, because both games will surprisingly work in safe mode. I tried some recommended solutions found on the internet (set depth to 16 bit, run in windowed mode, etc), but none work. Also, the EU3 demo runs just fine.

Help me!

Edit: HEUREKA!

So, the solution is to remove _all_ drivers until you get a 640x480 256 color screen.

Restart.

Lest W7 find its own driver for GF8800.

Restart.

Downlaod and install the newest Win7 diver from Nvidia homepage.

Restart.

Enjoy game.
