Completely removing Steam and all its games including in the registry then reinstalling Steam in its own directory with just Warlock has cured most of my crashes. I've played 3 large map non-arma games to turn 100 with only 1 crash per game. This was done on advice from Paradox customer support.

Well that is good news to hear but sort of like cracking a nut open by using an elephant!

Also it doesnt help those people with the Armaggedon DLC.

... but at least you can play your game now.

It depends on the speed of your connection and the number of games you have on Steam.
Cleaning out ones system and registry regularly is very useful. Most machines accumulate trash and conflicts that clutter and hinder processing.
Can you explain why the Armaggedon DLC is an exception to this principle of good housekeeping and the experience & sound advice of Fenryder.

Did I say it was an exception? - Well only in the fact that he doesnt have it, nor may his solution may work for those that have Armaggedon, in so much as they have "other" issues causing CTDs.

- Ive had this particular factory built rig for just coming up to 18mths and Ive not had to uninstall/clean registry once. So I guess the advice of the original OT poster is good to take, but only if you are happy or have tried every other form of resolution available.

EDIT - Or I may have misread his original post as he may have arma, but hasnt tried to play any games with the new game mode enabled. It would be good to hear if/when he tries that mode to compare to his successful playthroughs, not when not using that gamemode.

Ya sorry I wasnt clear..I have Arma DLC installed. The games I've played were just not using the armda mode option. Didnt want to push my luck :) I had clear the registry many times before and I had move Steam to different locations before as well so I'm guess it had to do with either the Steam copy I had or Warlocks interaction with other games on Steam. Since the crashes use to happen at the end of the turn I wonder if they are related to some interaction between Steam and the autosave?

Could be cloud saves. More likely though, I'm guessing its a file system problem, and you just cleared up enough space on your drive or something. Potentially something in how steam allocates space for save files locally as well.

Glad to hear progress is being made! And if they know the work around, they may also now know a fix, so everyone else has good news to look forward to.
