I'm sorry to ask you this, but I've finally installed the 1.2 update on my computer and my HoI2 keeps crashing. (less frequently now but it keeps doing it)

Have I screwed up my HoI2 or what? Sometimes I also have the following problem; when I start my HoI2 I don't get to see the loadingscreen (that with Churchill, Roosevelt and Stalin), my screen stays dark, even when I am supposed to see the menu it's still the same.

Maybe this has something to do with that read-only file I always get a question about ("Execute Yes or No?")

I have a Win XP (Home), Ati-radeon 9200, directx 9.0, 2,8 Ghz processor. And I have the Benelux version.

Okay let's try some standard things.
1) Rename the AVI folder to AVI_back
2) Set the color depth to 16BIT
3) Turn off everything in the background like E-mail/ICQ/Messenger, Virus protection and everything in the system tray beside the clock.
4) Update your Windows, update your Video card drivers and audio card drivers. Then repeat steps 1-3.

And what file gives you that?
Obviously that should not be happening.
