I have just installed DD on a new machine. Get an error message that DD encountered a problem with the sound card. Don't care about sound, just want to play. How can I load game without sound?

Unfortunately, you can't. It wants to initialize the sound device. Which should thus be present in your PC. Does your PC have some sort of integrated sound which you could activate?
