Hey guys.. Yeah, I'm that guy who has made something pretty cool in Sketchup.. Yeah, that guy.

Sorry, just I'm good at Sketchup and this is more of conceptual thing than a model.. Unless..

1. There is some way to convert sketchup models into this game.
2. There is some way to easily convert sketchup into Blender and then into the game.

Anyway, here's the design for some New York/East Coast American style Brownstone Upper Middle Class Rowhouses:

I have been very careful to make them modular, so many configurations can be made, and ammended.. I can make some corner aspects, or different floors.

There are 4 main components of the rowhouses:

1. Basement Level

2. First Floor

3. Filler Floors

4. Top Floor.

So, this way, I can build a number of slightly different rowhouses that will create variety of different heights and colors without much extra work (it's not going to be easy, but it simplifies things)..

(This is the building it was loosely based on)

So, the problem is of course that the model was created in Sketchup.. what are the easiest work-arounds and comments/ suggestions are always appreciated.

Just showing off the modular nature of this method of building design, if we all use this type of thing, we can create a lot more building variety, and make this game a lot better.

Here's a few more examples of how the floor sections can be interchanged:

Is anyone interested in this at all?

Well,

There is this guy on Simtropolis who posted a video on how he got a new house into Skylines. Combining this with some other steps around the web I got these steps:

1) export your sketchup model as a .DAE file
2) convert it to an .fbx file with "autodesk fbx converter"
3) put it in C:\Users\yourname\AppData\Local\Colossal Order\Cities_Skylines\Addons\Import, where "yourname" is the name of the account you are logged into Windows.
4) watch the bit in the simtrpolis vid below, from around 1 hour 2 minutes or so when he fires up Skylines. He imports an .fbx file.

That being said, I tried something like you are trying to do and I did not succeed. No model showed up in the asset editor. My guess is the format of the fbx file is not yet correct.

I am indeed also interested in how to do these things (without buying photoshop or Sketchup pro please :)).

PS I like your building. I want more brick stuff.
