This weeks WritAAR of the Week has been around here nine months and has two efforts under his belt.

His first effort was a short AAR on Republican Spain. Republican Spain - 'Death To the Fascist Snake!'. This AAR started off pretty funny and sort of died after the Republicans won the civil war.

His second and current effort, Siam - The Pocket Empire is a much more substantial piece of work. He has detailed characters, some nice dialogue and lots of nice pictures. It is a very impressive piece of work!

So, semi, step up to the podium and bare your soul!

Outstanding, sir. Though I have not yet had much of a chance to peruse the bulk of what HOI's AARs have to offer (and it is much I am sure) I have read yours and find it immensly enjoyable!! A hearty congratulations!

His Thai AAR is what made me hang around this part of the forum.

Congratulations, Semi.

And I want to apologize again for that Buddhist remark I made two weeks ago.... :eek:o

Thanks everyone for this big surprise! I've been sick for a while and haven't been on the board as often as I'd like. This is truly a great honour though, especially since how the first few pages of my Siamese AAR are not exactly my best pieces of work ever. I really think this AAR really helped me develop my writing potential and I am just happy so many people found it to be a worthwhile read when it is surrounded by so many other great AAR's!

I always thought that the pourpose of the WoW would be to make the writer present him/herself to the readers and other writers... so, first, congratulations for the nomination, Semi! :p And, second, talk about yourself! :D

Well ok....

When I first started writing my Republican Spain AAR I was just hoping to get a few laughs from people, and I did and it was all in good fun but my other project, my Siam AAR quickly took over so I ended so I could focus on my newer AAR.

When I first plunged into the murky world of Thai politics, I started to research the history of Thailand so I'd have some clue as to what the heck I was actually writing about, I found a few good sites and went from there. After a few hours of reading about Siam in the 1930's I'd decide that pre-1936 would be a much better place to start to show how Siam developed from an absolute monarchy to a constitutional one, also the people who where involved in the 1932 coup would become very important in their own right afterwards, such as Phibunsongkhram. As you can tell from my first few updates, I was still a developing writer, the first few parts a bit amateurish and non-spell checked, but I think the big turning point in my writing style was my first naval battle.

As you can tell from my signature, I'm really into WWII ships, with their big guns etc., after writing that, I re-envisioned was I wanted to do with this AAR. I managed to get screenshots up and started typing out my work beforehand and, well, it all just came together.

Thanks to everyone who has supported my AAR so far! I still have a long way to go with developing my writing skills, but hopefully it will lead to somewhere great.

Well…. about myself… my name is Steven Yong, I live in Ottawa, Ontario (go Sens go! Leafs suck!) and am Cambodian (although born in Canada). My hobbies include, playing HoI, watching anime, and helping MateDow in the C.O.R.E. mod. Also currently, I am very, very, sick. :p
