I have a quick question about "Wrong Government Type" opinion penalty for feudal liege of a republic. I noticed that unlike vanilla in CK2+ lieges of the same culture as the head of vassal republic don't have this modifier. I’d like to make a step further and erase the modifier for feudal government of any culture but before I do it in my copy I’d like to hear CK2+ team view on it.

I don’t really think this modifier is historically justified (it is obviously justified another direction – feudal lords shouldn’t like being vassals of republics). It’s not like merchant republics in Italy had more problems with HRE emperors than Italian feudal states. Say Pisa was staunchly Ghibellin for several centuries and one of the most loyal imperial subjects in Italy in this period.

Is it a balance issue? But don’t lieges have enough negative opinion modifiers since republics in this case are definitely foreign and probably strong vassals wanting a council place(merchant republics are often strong vassals and their liege has only so many council places)? I really don’t see why adding extra -20 opinion modifier is necessary.

Clearly you have revisited this modifier (or its conditions would replicate the vanilla ones) so if it is possible I’d like to hear your opinion on this.
