working behind the scenes is an integral part of Lite and Big and would give the game another dimension, but a no pm game also has it's benefits, being a bit like poker where everyone has access to the same information except player's roles/cards and therefore a player's ability to sway the crowd is vital; I'm not sure if there's a definitive answer as to which is best.
But I think at the very least we need to try out a no-pm game
You might try, but I would suggest waiting a bit. This game is still new and need to fleshen out. People need to adapt to a different playing style. This is not Big, this is not Lite, this is Micro, and the most fundamental difference is that it has no PM's. If you remove that, you might as well just make it Lite again.
I think you should also allow PMS, that'd liven debate up a bit.
Indeed. Move to PM's and the debate in the thread dies out, leaving those who are not scanners with even less information to work on. In the end, Marty did not know who the sorc was, the wolf did hunt the seer after all, and he took his information with him to the grave. Out of fear of being hunted. Be serious, you have a 25% chance of being hunted. Outing at least insures everyone has your information.
Agreed in large part. I do not agree with no PMs having benefits. I see none. This game would have been much more interesting if EURO could have called my bluff with a PM instead of basically saying that he was the Seer in the thread and thus getting killed. PMs are an essential part of online werewolf. Who knows what happens then. It would have been more interesting regardless.
How would EURO have called your bluff in a PM? Would he PM you and say "I don't believe you. Bye" What would have happened next? He called your bluff in the thread, so the wolf, the hunter and the village could try to find out for themselves who m ight be speaking the thruth, especially since the wolf also knows who does speak the thruth about who the wolf is. If you move the debate to PM's, the other players will never know. There is no game for them left, except a random lynch or hunt.
We do not play real life werewolf here. We play online, and PMs are an essential part of that. I will repeat what I said earlier, and that is that micro has potential with a good roster, but PMs are a necessity. Micro can recreate the last few chaotic days of a good Lite game, but PMs must be allowed.
Marty wants PMs. AOK wants PMs. EURO wants PM's. Jonti wants PMs.
Case closed. I will not try micro again unless they are allowed.
You do not decide on the case. I don't want PM's, I think other players agree with me, but have not spoken out, or shown up in the thread. Also I think jonti was sarcastic (I think?) If you have problems with the fact that you have to develop new ways to play this different game, fine, then don't play. Although I would miss you. During this game, first I thought you were serious, but then I thought you were doing a brilliant ploy and actually using the PM-argument as a way to set the plot. I think you can be a great player, but you need to give this new way of playing a chance.
It would be something though to have a real life, face to face game with fellow Paradox Werewolf players. I would suck at it but it would be fun.
It is fun. I have player WW with other people (some on this forum as well). It is great fun, the same, but still different.
