I've had a lot of trouble trying to join/host multiplayer games. Every time I try joining a game I get the message 'Failed to connect', and if I try hosting people can't join. I know other people have had this problem too, but couldn't find any solution posted anywhere.

So far I've opened all ports, disabled the XP firewall and tried any combination of settings I could think of.

Some specs:

- EU2 1.06b7, scandinavian edition(didn't work with earlier patches either :()
- XP Pro
- Netopia DSL-modem (2048/640 connection)
- Intel PRO 100/1000 network adapter

If anyone has a solution, please give me a hint :)

Seems like I have found out what the problem is. Microsoft DirectPlay apparently puts your computers IP address in the data section of IP packets instead of using the information in the header. Since my network (and a lot of other peoples networks) use NAT this inserts the invalid address 10.0.0.x into the data section, which is not looked at by the router. If my understanding of DirectPlay is incorrect, please enlighten me.

Now, if I could trick the router into letting my computer using the correct WAN-side IP-address I think things would be better....
