yet another ctd/freeze thread

I was playing my game, saved it, then my computer froze (in the saving process. Restarted the computer today, loaded up HoI, and tried loading my savegame with no success. First two tries game me a freeze. Third time gave me a CTD. So I checked my save game file and it has been completely cleared! 0 bytes big, no data to be seen when opened in wordpad.

Is there anythign I can do?? I was so far into my campaign (44 or so) and I would hate to lose it. At the very least somebody please tell me what I can do to prevent this from happening again.

No idea why it crashed during the save. Can't you just load the last autosave?

I wish, but unfortunately a friend started a game as the US which now is in both the autosave file and the oldautosave.

So frustrating!

Time to start archiving those saves, or get a new freind who does not like HOI.

I did not mean to diminish the impact to you. There are lots of reasons for a crash though and I would need a lot more info before I could attempt to find the cause.
