I suspect that if not there'll be a mod for that fairly shortly, just as I suspect that if it's in there'll be a mod to remove it if at all possible.

They haven't really defined what they mean by "the warp", so far as I know, so it could really be anything. Who knows how that will manifest in-game. Also, just to be nitpicky, the abilities/source of the three examples you mentioned are not remotely comparable to one another.

We do have warp drives, but they function more like the ones you see in Star Trek. It's not the Immaterium in the same sense as in Warhammer 40k.

Psychic powers, though... ;)

Will there be paranormal abilities like what is present in 40k's psykers, Star wars Jedi, or some pilots in the Gundam series ?
I don't like psychic powers in scifi, honestly. The magic in scifi should be science themed if not plausible. I think psychics belong in good old fantasy settings, and the fact that Star Trek and Star Wars did it doesn't change that.

They didn't call it the Immaterium in the Dark Age of Science either, who knows what we'll let free once we start ripping holes in the void willy nilly. If I don't see at least one ship eaten up by daemons I'll be miffed and download the closest mod to add such a feature :)

Can we have a grimdark option in the menu, or something? At one end, you have Star Trek, the other 40K? The further you crank up grimdarkness, the more terrifying and depressing everything becomes?

We don't call it the Warp, but there are other realms where horrors dwell...

Take my money please.
I wish to make an immediate offering to the Elder beings.

I cringe a bit at the thought but I trust you can make it work in a tastefull manner.
Remember telepathy is nice, telekinesis aceptable, Alpha level psykers wiping out armies are not.

I suppose that occasionally an event will fire about a fleet/horde/swarm coming thru a rift in the warp. The Immaterium thing is fascinating but I suppose that it's been already discarded because not compatible with the base game mechanics or frustrating for the players (in PDS' opinion). And in the end even it would be a repetitive mechanic.
But maybe creative mods would be able to make it playable and fun.
Psych powers were already present in SotS 2 and I think that a lot of PDS' first steps with Stellaris have taken into account SotS 2's Pros and shortcomings.

Same here. I always hated it in Star Trek, where they always try to put a pseudo-scientific veneer over clearly magical elements to make it a more fridge logic immersion problem. But then psychics are just psychic. It's why Troi was such a terrible clutch character.

Klingon Commander: I WILL DESTROY YOU AND YOUR SHIP CAPTAIN!
Troi: I'm sensing a great anger.

What would they do, mechanically? You can give a race bonuses to combat, or diplomacy, or espionage, or whatever and call it whatever you like. In a game the scale of your typical space 4x, being good at combat because you're big & strong versus being force-sensitive is indistinguishable, in the end they're just numbers added into the game formulae.

Oh come now, who wouldn't love randomly losing ships in transit and then having them reappear 50 years later disgorging a horde of demons onto your unprepared planet?

Oh my gosh if they did that that would fully throw me into "shut up and take my money" territory.
