We do have warp drives, but they function more like the ones you see in Star Trek. It's not the Immaterium in the same sense as in Warhammer 40k.

Psychic powers, though... ;)

Can we have an Emprah in the game with loyal spess mehreens?

As... government form ;)

You mean you aren't there already?
Judging from the amount of my forum badges, yes, yes I am. However any 40k influence in my paradox game makes me love it even more.

For the dev, are the "unspeakable horrors" more in the lovecraft direction of the warp as we know it doesn't really exist (like a psychic mirror world fueled by all sentient races emotions). I need me some malevolent God births from excess ala dark elves with slaneesh kinda deal. Would be hilarious in multiplayer games.

Can we have a grimdark option in the menu, or something? At one end, you have Star Trek, the other 40K? The further you crank up grimdarkness, the more terrifying and depressing everything becomes?

Oh man, a 'Grimdark' slider option would be the best. Star Trek on one end, Firefly in the middle and stuff like Event Horizon/40K at the other end.

We don't call it the Warp, but there are other realms where horrors dwell...
Man, if we could get a cameo from the Orz from Star Control 2 I would be a real *happy camper*. There would be much *dancing*.

The only difference between Fantasy and Sci Fi is that Sci Fi talks about "What will be? (in the future)" and fantasy talks about "What could have been? (Alternate world)". Whether or not the civilizations in the story have progressed to space faring tech is not really relevant for the distinction. Star Wars is more accurately classified as Space Fantasy, not Sci Fi.

Same here. I always hated it in Star Trek, where they always try to put a pseudo-scientific veneer over clearly magical elements to make it a more fridge logic immersion problem. But then psychics are just psychic. It's why Troi was such a terrible clutch character.
With the exception of the new age psychic crap star trek is actualy fairly true to how physics work. A lot more true than any other sci-fi series I've ever seen. So they picked up some tropes that were already painfully overused the in the genre already and perhaps they shouldn't but een troi is done is a plausible manner, her species communicate that way, she can read others but sicne they lack the faculties needed to properly transmit their thoughts she's limited to emotional intuition. It's the diffrence between hearing someone speak and listening to how they breathe and drawing conclusions from that Now troi had many flaws but that wasn't the chief one.

alien creatures from beyond. Monsters, things going completely apeshit. Hopefully a grimdark slider.

I swear. I'll end up buying this game and all it's expansions even if I need to sell somebodies organs...

Speaking of which. Anybody has an extra kidney?

Actually, Troi is limited to reading emotional states because she's half-Betazoid. Normal Betazoids can fully read the thoughts of other species, though some species are fully immune to psychic readings, as the needs of the plot dictate.

So, much like Death Star appearing on the wrong side of Yavin, amirite?

People shouldn´t take sci fi seriously. It´s bound to end in pain. Just go along with it and hope it isn´t too silly.

Actually Troi communicate telepathically with other betaziods, for an example her mother, as if she were full betazoid. Also with repeated contact she can communicate fully with others too for an example riker. Yes her being half betazoid is part of it too, but even full betazoids as the guy seen in the drumhead can't read non betazoids like hearing a person speak. They can tell if someone's lying and emotional states and that's about it. Unless you claim that Klingon's and half romulans are amongst those species that are immune. The only betazoid that claim they can read other fully is Lwaxana Troi, and quite frankly she's a few fries short of a happy meal.
