I have the same issue. I started as Timurids and culture shifted to Persian to form Persia. I chose the Zoroastrian mission tree and no event has fired for 40 years. I followed a similar path to a YouTube video I saw where they swapped from Timurids to Persia and they got the events but have not, at least to my knowledge.
