So!

Holy Fury is out with all of it’s glory this week!

I just want to say from all of the team that we have been super excited about this release for weeks now and to see the experiences from everyone playing it so far has been so much fun. We’re happy that everyone is enjoying our updates and the things we’ve been tinkering on for the last year.

This week we’ve kept ourselves busy with trying to listen in and gather the things you’re talking about. We’ve noticed a couple of issues that we’re addressing in an upcoming patch, and we are continuing to work on small improvements to make sure the game is in an even better state before going on our winter vacation.

We’re looking forward to hear about your adventures in Holy Fury this weekend! :)

Cheers,

Divine

This DLC really invigorated my interest in CK2, especially with its Random World generation... and that Animal Kingdoms easter egg.
My only complaint with it is that there doesn't seem to be a lot of variety with animal appearances and names. For example, my first cat ruler was King Mr. Bigglesworth of Mr. Bigglesworthia, and nearby was a different King Mr. Bigglesworth of Nightland. I think it would be nice if we could have some region-appropriate breeds (e.g. Siberian Huskies in Russia for dogs and Chartreux cats in France) and additional names (perhaps pulled from a few lists of popular pet names).

Other than that, playing as Hindu Italian cats has been lots of fun. :D

1. Will you be adding South Slavic, West Slavic and French and Basque units in the patch? I've noticed that they didn't really get any, but i figured that was because of the amazing diversity you made for every single Arabic culture, love the Berbers ;)

2. When is the patch coming out, if it's okay to ask?

3. Please have a wonderful Winter vacation whenever you're done patching the game up! :p

I posted this elsewhere, but do you guys know that you cannot implement Imperial Authority, currently, if you have Cosmopolitan Nature for your reformed religion? You can't institute religious control. This is really frustrating! Any chance it might be changed? D:

Started in 867 in the Far East. Current year is 976, and I took a look at Europe for the first time.

HRE controls entire de jure HRE, plus 1066 France and Bohemia. Brittany, Denmark, Pomerania and all of Britannia are ruled by a feudal Norseman, and all of the rest of Scandinavia if ruled by Norway.

My first reaction was "WTF?"

Apart from strange centralizing tendencies among tribes, I really like the game. I bought Jade Dragon, Reaper's Due and Monks and Mystics the same day Holy Fury came out (which I did not buy), and the game feels totally different. I've spent at least 40 of my 110 years ruled by a regent, and I heartily approve.

Thanks to the team for all the work put into Holy Fury! I'm really enjoying it.
Here's an issue I ran into, though: as the (reformed) Tengrist nomadic Mongol Empire, I wasn't able to settle as feudal because I don't own The Old Gods. (Because before Holy Fury, settling as a feudal pagan without Old Gods would have resulted in game-over.) It would be nice if this decision could be updated so that pagan nomads can settle if they have Old Gods or Holy Fury.
I cheesed it by converting to Orthodoxy, settling, and then converting back to Tengrism in a day, but that was kinda bad for my roleplay.

To say nothing of your piety.

I'm wait with playing in Russia for fixed coat of arms. I can't make RP campaign with early Russian Empire right now because of e_russia coat of arms (mariages with bizzies, ortodox religion etc). I'm really miss old coat of arms and I don't understand why we don't have it. It must be a bug :(

The Doctrine "Enatic Clans" entirely excludes men from all positions of power, but spawned courtiers are still mainly men.

This may cause rulers (especially AI controlled rulers) lack enough proper female courtiers for positions of Chancellor, Marshal, etc.

So, when's the patch going to be? Early next week?

Are you going to fix the weird issue with duplicate Kingdom of Jerusalem titles after crusades at later starts? It's an odd one but it's very consistent.

I've loved Holy Fury but the only problem is that it feels way too easy to capture or kill enemy commanders in battle. It seems like if you have high enough personal combat you will capture at least one commander a battle.

Thank you all for your kind words and sharing stories from the expansion. The team worked hard and put their love into it, so it's great to see it pay off!

I remember when Holy Fury was presented to me at the end of development of Jade Dragon. I think it went something like this:

Me: "This looks amazing! When can we release it?"
Project Lead: "I'd say November 2018 looks feasible."
Me: "A whole year?! For an expansion! You can't be serious."
Project Lead: "Yup."

Looking back now, I'm glad we took the time we needed, considering how well it turned out. :)

I would like to point out that I own CK2 almost since its release and while I still play it from time to time and enjoyed your last DLCs, I really needed bigger changes to the game to keep it fresh. With smaller DLC I did not felt compelled to go back play CK2 until I had a handful that I did not touch.

Good job, there are pieces of really hot code here :)

Great job on this expansion, the game is just that much more amazing now. I love the new Crusade system. On the bug side, I am sure you are aware but a large amount of minor character dynasty shields and barony coat of arms are just black. I hope you can address that in the next patch (to clarify, I verified my cache and unistalled and reinstalled and the bug is still there).

They released some customization DLC only at PDXCon (which of course most people don't have). And now the game tries to use it when generating random CoAs and fails. They didn't notice because all their test computers have it installed.

I've had my vassals ignore NAPs or council positions to join factions since the update (on a game started after, while council war declaration was a thing and the council was content). I didn't change the "vassals can ignore NAPs to join factions" rule either which I'm pretty sure defaults to "no they can't do that that's dumb". Half the time I'm wasting time crushing factions with expensive mercenaries when i need to be looting infidel temples to raise African MA to reform into incest

Not at my computer just now so I can’t show the screenshot I took but I had a weird issue where in Random World with Animal Kingdoms some random tribe on the steppes didn’t have faces. They kept their headgear and I think some of them had makeup or scars but that was pretty amusing to see! Other than that one glitch, I have had nothing but good experiences in the game and feel overwhelmingly compelled to congratulate the dev team for their excellent work.

I understand your sentiment about the double-headed eagle. We'll consider the double-headed eagle and a possible two-way solution.
To give a different perspective - this change was good. The eagle didn't make any sense whatsoever, especially when you changed kingdom layout for a region the way you did. On a side note - you can consider moving Russia to a titular title, similar to Roman empire. And make it creation possible by controlling some critical duchies from Novgorod, Vladimir, Perm, Chernigov and Volga Bulgaria kingdoms (specifically to represent the need of dealing with nomads to form this, since it became possible only afterwards irl). While renaming current de-jure empire to a simple Rus' (since there is no such kingdom now and this would make a bit more sense imo)

One issue I've noticed is that the popes are way more trigger-happy with excommunication than ever before. Worse, they're always being convinced by low-level nobles to excommunicate powerful kings. I even saw the pope excommunicate the king of Italy at the behest of the captain of a mercenary company. Seems like this should be tweaked a little so things like that can't happen. Maybe it should be made so a character can't convince the pope to excommunicate someone unless the one doing the convincing is of equal or higher rank, or something like that. A mercenary captain shouldn't be able to get the pope to excommunicate a king.

Otherwise, I mean inevitably there's some little issues here and there, but I'm really enjoying Holy Fury. Many thanks for all your hard work. This is awesome. You've made an already magnificent game even better.
