Hello!

We have now released Great Works and we hope you are as pleased with the result as we are. We are aware that there are a few issues here and there (Who knew Chalkidike was uninhabited right up until the 8th century?), but we have fixed many of these issues internally and will continue to do so. Also if you find any issues make sure to report them on the bug forum.

We’re not quite ready to announce when it will be out, but we are currently working on a bug fix patch. There will also hopefully be a few fun updates as well. Let us know which issues are bothering you the most as it can help us prioritize.

Have a great weekend and thank you for your feedback so far.

Yes, I have many wonders. Maybe even 25. I lost count. Only 1 with traps.

That would explain it though. First time it fired a few times, then 50 years later I had more wonders it fired again with more, then several decades and more wonders later it fired again 25 times.

Hah! Excellent. One issue down - the multi-firing is easily fixed, I do believe. Just have to change line 262 in LT_wonder_flavor_event_2.txt from "any_realm_wonder = {" to "FROM = {" as the FROM scope is supposed to hold the wonder triggering the event.

A bigger problem is the fact that it's being triggered on inheritance. Clearly undesirable, but I can't think of any simple way to check whether a province (not necessarily under the character's direct control) changed hands due to conquest or due to inheritance. Especially 100 days after the change occurred. The only thing I can think of...jeez, even this wouldn't be perfect, but all I can think of is to hand out an invisible, timed modifier to the current heir when someone owning a trapped wonder dies, that provides that heir with immunity to the trap event for just long enough to get past the traps in the wonder they inherited. Clumsy. And it would still leave secondary heirs under gavelkind potentially vulnerable, if there were multiple titles at the highest tier. Nothing else comes to mind immediately, though.

Two things I'd love to see:

1.) Enable achievements for setting HL adventurers to rare. Or turn them down otherwise. They are just way too much and not fun
2.) Balance the African rain events. It's a nice mechanic, but the extortion payments cost too much in the long run given how often it happens. It may be fine in Mali, but playing in East Africa you don't have the same money

I couldn't agree more. I had to turn Horse Lords off to make the game enjoyable while playing for achievements. :(

May I suggest a change?

It seems to me that certain cities (like Constantinople and Rome) need to have at least the possibility of more than one great work. Alexandria, for instance, once had not just the Lighthouse but also the Great Library. Restricting all cities to a maximum of one just seems...wrong.

What if the possibility of more than one great work was introduced, based on city size? Perhaps a city of size 4 (or less) could build only one (or less: maybe it could only have a pre-existing great work); a size 5 could have two; a size 6 could have three; and a size 7 could have either four or even more (because the greatest cities, like Constantinople, are going to be endlessly aggrandized).

I realize this would create some work for our valiant coders. However, I think it would create a much more realistic game experience, certainly a more enjoyable one, and it would allow certain historical sites to exist which currently cannot.

Thoughts?

Ah, that would explain another oddity I noticed in-game; after I built the Hypocausts in one of my Great Works, all the other Wonders allowed me to build Heating Pipes on their own, which normally require the former to be built first.

I agree, but I don't think adding extra Great Works is the solution. Rather, I think there should be custom "Great City" types for just a few places in the game; these can't be built by the player, but they contain unique features for that specific location...Theodosian Walls and Hagia Sophia for Constantinople, for instance.

Is there will be a DD today?
Cordially

Today is actually a Swedish holiday so no dev diary today I'm afraid.

Any updates on when the next bugfix patch will roll out?

I've seen (and reported) quite a few bugs in the current version that really should be addressed and hopefully will be in the next patch or two.

No date yet I'm afraid but it shouldn't be too far into the future.
And thanks for reporting bugs, it really helps! ^^

It would be nice if someone from Paradox would comment on whether or not animism is working as designed. As far as I can tell no one's commented on either a bug report or threads made here.

More distant future is still in the shadows?

Anyway thank you for your work!
Expansion probably, after Holy Fury's success.

There is one bug I encounted with a level 3 magnificent gardens. I started to build a vineyard and could instantly use the "send cider" option, even though the construction wouldn't be finished for another year and a half. There are also a few minor texts bugs in the description of the great wonders (ex. string_coast).

Also, although I'm sure that some folks have already mentioned this. The invite to private conversation doesn't seem to work.

I seem to be unable to rename some of my great works. I built several after managing to dominate the silk route and get all that shiny, and after the third the option greyed out. I Really wanted to name my mausoleum the great mausoleum of Krakow. No worries though the character there is dead. I hope.
