CK2 Dev Diary# 22: Quarantining the bugs

Hello all, it’s time for another CK2 development diary. We’re still working on making 2.6.2, and while of course there’s some bugfixing going on, for the most part we’re just adding bonus content. Which is fun!

We are working in a strict priority order, so naturally the first thing to be added was more pet events:

With the vital stuff out of the way, we moved on to more of The Reaper’s Due’s core focus, mortality and death:

We’ve also added some new game rules, such as making regular illnesses less common if desired, keeping prisoners in jail after torture, or disabling titles being named after dynasties or changing due to the culture of the holder.

There’s not much else to show at the moment, but there’ll be more next week. For something else to talk about now, I can reveal some of the new statistics data we’ve been getting about RD and the gamerules.

Of the 50,000 players in the last 24 hours:
90-95% of RD players are using the new Death sounds and have ingame sound on.
96% of players allow the AI to use the Intrigue focus.
92.6% of players allow the AI to use the Seduction focus.
93% of players have kept assassination plot only.
84% of players have Defensive pacts on.
76.3% of players have Shattered Retreat on.

Right now I can only see the numbers for default settings or not, but that will change as our stats people make newer and fancier graphs, and these seem like the most interesting stats for now. Next week, more new 2.6.2 content news!

They probably got it from the novel.
That would seem likely yes, the song and book are somewhat similar in theme are they not? Huh who would have thought that the members of Metallica could read... Next you'll tell me that Dave Mustaine can read too.

Court musicians (especially in k_georgia) could get an event where the Devil shows up to "bet a fiddle of gold against your soul" in a music competition.

You should remove all games played for less than an hour from those statistics I have started several games with the standard options just because I wanted to check something.
Exactly what I was thinking - I only played two serious games with the latest patch (Both over 10 hours with all Conclave patch features disabled) while having started dozens for the above mentioned reason with the vanilla settings. That ought to mess up the statistics.

Nice! I was going to request that as a game rule, that feature has bothered me ever since it was added.

I'd like a rule to remove Syphilis if I'm honest, isn't it thought to have originated in the New World? Perhaps have a setting that means that it can fire after the Sunset Invasion has begun if you've got that activated.

Also I've currently got a attractive lustful master seducer hedonist Zoroastrian Shahanshah right now whose banged half the women in Ērānshahr (many of them his close relatives) and I'm worried about that magnificent bastard.

I think a lot of events are suspiciously linked to metal song names, so even the novel is well-known, I believe the Metallica song is likely to have inspired them in some way.

Instead of say, having a random Viking as death, could you maybe add in as a special thing a Reaper Portrait, unique only to death? (Maybe put it under a unique culture or something?).

I love how the Reapers due focuses on death, but where's the Reaper?

I'm not that it would mess it even by 0.1%

The novel is not the origin of the phrase, it's 200 years older than that too, it is from the poem I quoted earlier.

Just out of curiosity, will lowering the rate of regular disease disable achievements?

I'd like to have the old education system available as a game rule!

Are these statistics based on the number of games played with those settings in the last 24 hours, or the number of hours played with these settings in the last 24 hours?

Also, on the subject of quarantining bugs, has this one been captured yet? If the AI is sending marriage and betrothal requests that should be impossible to me, it is likely doing the same with the other AI characters, so this is likely to be responsible for quite a few of the nonsensical marriages the AI makes.

Especially if you name is Ioane.
