Hi folks!

Tomorrow is the release day for Monks and Mystics and, of course, the 2.7 patch - exciting times! Now, we've already covered the new features pretty well, so... how about a Q&A? Unleash your questions about everything CK!

(Oh, and don't miss the livestreams later today, 16:00 CET as usual!)

However, Society Clothing of members of an open society (monastic orders for example) will be visible to all.
Related question, is there anyone to not wear society clothing? Or am I always going to end up looking like Friar Tucks brother from another mother when ever I join one of the monastic groups?

Will Monastic Orders have many flavor events for them to make them unique or will they be pretty much copies of each other with different name like Romuva, Slavic and Suomenusko pagan religions at least used to be at the time The Old Gods expansion was released? Like will Buddhist or Nestorian Monastic Orders be any different in comparison to Dominicans? Same with the Devil Worshippers. Is there any difference between The Cold Ones and Hel worshippers or are they just the same product with slightly different name stamp and paint?

1. Will you add secret societies for heresies, such as for Cathars?
2. Will there be an expansion of economy mechanics such as trade?

I think others can give a more detailed and fleshed out answer. But from what I can recall, naming this game Crusader Kings was considered a big mistake as the name somewhat constrained the ambitions of it. So the second thing you say there is probably what's closest to the truth :)

To be fair though, "The Sims Medieval" was already taken.

They are dynamic in the fact they are created when people join them, but they have to exist as a game entity. As often, time and scope are the main culprits here.
:(

I was looking forward to heretic hunting, from both side of the struggle.

Still works for Zoroastrian playthroughs, but secret Iconoclasm could have had an impact on the Byzantine start, and I don't think I'm the only one to think secret Cathar or secret Fraticelli would have improved these heresies.

What about the Catholics after the Schism is mended? It's technically an heresy but the secret Catholic cult should already exist in the game, right?

What is your stance on slavery? Specifically, the Mamluks, Ghilman and Saqaliba, and how they influenced the era, would you like to go beyond the "vassalised mercenary" route? Do you think generals making bids for palace coups could help breaking up blobs late game, a la ERE?

I'd love to do more with slave soldiers like the Ghilman.

I've been asking a lot but no one has replied me yet:

Will the new societies/orders build castles or holdings all over the place, Hassanssins-style?

If I set supernatural settings off, will I still get the benefits of joining societies/orders/cults?

The new societies are not castle builders like some of the Holy Orders. The supernatural Game Rule will not affect anything much in Monks and Mystics, but there is a new Game Rule to turn off the Demon Worshipper cults.

Can you be part of multiple societies at once?

For example, if you are part of the secret society of Shia muslims under a Sunni ruler, can you join both the Assassins and the Crypto-Shias?

No, you have to choose one Society.

Seems like the Q&A has ended for today? I was wondering about Artifacts and raiding, I think raiding is a core gameplay for the Germanic Norse, will they get a greater chance or event to steal a relic/artifact from the county/character they are raiding from compared to other cultures and religions?

There is a chance every time you siege down a Holding, I believe, so raiding in general should yield some loot.

Q1 Can we "wear" Crown Jewels that are in our inventory? In other words, if we have the bling appear physically on our character?

Q2 Will we ever be able to change the clothing on our character in game. I would like to be able to do so as easily as getting a haircut in game.

Q1: No. I'd love that though!

Q2: Unlikely.

There are many things that could have been done better, of course. However, many of them would require fundamental changes to the game mechanics and would probably be better explored in a sequel.
Could you see yourself leading and/or being a part of a team that makes a sequel?

Related question, is there anyone to not wear society clothing? Or am I always going to end up looking like Friar Tucks brother from another mother when ever I join one of the monastic groups?

Kings and emperors are not affected.

Were there any features in the past (that your allowed to talk about) that you guys wanted to add but just couldn't for some reason or another?
I'm willing to bet they wanted to do a lot more secret cults, hence that dev diary with emphasis on gnostics etc etc. Societies must take up an awful lot of work.

But hopefully, they can build on that in the future.

The new societies are not castle builders like some of the Holy Orders. The supernatural Game Rule will not affect anything much in Monks and Mystics, but there is a new Game Rule to turn off the Demon Worshipper cults.

So if supernatural = Off and Demon Worship = On, will worshipping demons still give you demonic power and other supernatural stuff/abilities?

If yes, whats the logic behind that?

If no, then is there still a point to join demonic cults? (with supernatural off)

edit: and just curious: is joining societies situational? Or are the risk/rewards of joining a society so powerful that every single ruler should join a society at some point of his/her life?
