Things are getting busy at the office with the upcoming release of Europa Universalis IV, but as has been said before, we're still very much committed to the continued support and further expansion of Crusader Kings II. With Doomdark currently Down Under, Johan asked me to put together a short dev diary highlighting some of the current stuff we've been working on.

Patch 1.11:
1.11 will be deployed next week, and the new patch will include a few features that should make dealing with plots a bit easier. After hatching a plot, you can now tell the game to automatically invite all plotters who are willing to join your scheme. No more having to browse through the Potential Plotters list and individually sending requests to every single character who wants to join!

Also, you can now set the game to always demand that characters end their plots as soon as they come to your attention. Another handy addition is that you can now see at a glance which potential plotters can be won over to your side if they are bribed.

Among the other things added is a new Siege Leader trait (finally), a favorite IP table for the multiplayer menu and some additional support for modders.

Crusader Kings II to Europa Universalis IV Converter:
Johan already posted a dev diary about the Converter last week in the Europa Universalis IV forum, and there is an interview with Groogy here that goes into some more detail. I don't have much to add except that we're pretty pleased with the result and it actually works better than we had anticipated when development began.

Customizer:
This is a smaller DLC on the scale of the Ruler Designer, but it's something that many have asked for. It will give players an easy way to customize several items in their games when they are already well underway.

You can have your character pay a visit to the barber, where their hairstyle or facial hair can be altered... within reason (no bearded women, sorry). Below you can see the new look I gave King Charles II the Not-So-Bald:

You can rename any title held by you or your vassals:

Finally, if you feel the need to shake things up a bit, you can alter the name and shield of your dynasty:

Hopefully this will tide you over for a while, until we're ready to tell you more about what the future will bring to Crusader Kings II. :)

Gotta be one of the worst DLCs since Horse Armor. It should be beneath Paradox to charge for it.

Better idea is to give the DLC away and ask for donations for the patch. I'd be more inclined to give them a couple of quid than buy half-assed DLCs.

Totally agree considering they already have a character editor in the game. The only new thing is the ability to rename Titles, something that should be patched in for and not charged for.

I'm not against DLC, I've bought enough of them for just about every Paradox game to be used to em, I'm just against this one.

Agreed - It'd be worth it if there was more content, but this is too bare.

Oh my gosh yes! Now I can finally rebuild the Macedonian Empire! First the Duchy of Dyrrachium (Or Thessalonica. Not sure which one to do first), then the Kingdom of Greece, then finally take over those silly Romans and eastwards!

Hey everyone let's just ignore this post!!!:
Have you seen the patchnotes for CK2? Tons of new stuff is added for free, and we can do that because CK2 is being funded by the DLCs.
Does that matter? I'm not obliged to buy this DLC, nor am I told to stop giving feedback as to the hilarity that is this DLC. - there is a clear-cut lack of content in this DLC, all of which could be done BEFORE the DLC was released, using ruler designer or editing the localiser.

I do wonder what the price will be. Even though I buy most DLC at launch, I'm unwilling to spend in excess of 99p on this one, so will wait for a sale if that is not its initial price.

The post was directed at people who think all DLCs should be free, sorry for making it look like it was directed at you.

The price is going to be a huge determining factor as to whether or not I go ahead and buy this now. My interest waned incredibly after it was revealed that renaming your character's dynasty doesn't form a cadet branch.

or editing the localization.

Changingit in the localization changes it for whole game, with the DLC it changes it just for that one save. Plus if you play MP, everyone will see the change as well.

Uh, no it couldn't. You could only change your hair style BEFORE starting the game, with this you can do it during the game if you don't like it.

Well that's a bit silly. Why would people expect DLC to be free?

Maybe they're big fans of Valve Software, all their DLC is free. On the PC and PS3 anyways. (TF2 store is not DLC)

The good thing about DLCs is that you don't have to buy them.

Multiplayer is bugged to high he'll anyway, and the main appeal of this game is singleplayer. There is no point in buying this DLC if you have ruler designer unless you have money to throw away.

Indeed. I've only purchased the DLC I want to own, and not purchased the ones I don't want. Gives me choice as to what new content I care enough about to spend money on, funds future enhanced content for CK2, and gives feedback to Paradox as to what sells and what doesn't.

A DLC-evil-capitalists-discussion for 15 pages? Again? Again?! AGAIN?!

Yeah don't really mind that people state they don't like it but when it evolves into argument that takes several pages of a topic then it just seems stupid. I would rather see discussions of the DLC's themselves than how someone thinks they should be handled.

"I'm really annoyed because some people are going to buy something that I think is silly and/or bad value; and even though their purchase in no way affects me, I'm still furious that they have the option to purchase it when I don't think they should!"

;)

They already ban quite a few topics of discussion in the forum rules. I really think they should consider adding "DLC bitching" to the list. It gets awful tiring.

This happens everytime new DLC comes threads turn to some argument over DLC policy etc. Like it really matters that much.

+1000

Patch sounds great.

Ability to customize title names is something I've wanted for a long time, so that's great news.

If they added the ability to choose which Coat of Arms, out of those that you have control over, is displayed for your top tier primary title I would no longer need to make micro-mods every single time I played. Like, if I start as Gotland and become King of Sweden over time, I want to be the King of Gotland and use the CoA of Gotland to represent MY kingdom. Being able to rename my kingdom is step one. Being able to pick the CoA used for that title is the missing link for me. Make the Empire of Britannia with Scotland, you can now call it the Empire of Scotland, but you need to be able to use the Scotland CoA for your 'new' empire. Really, your choices should be the CoA of any of your held titles or your dynasty CoA. Without that I'll still have to mod each game I play. Simple mods to create at least.

This. Very good suggestion! But this customizer will be a start in good direction.

I actually never expected anything of this "August technical DLC" and had already decided to give it a pass but this customizer really got me excited! Hairstyles aside, but re-naming your realms is really nice without tinkering the files.

As I see, this virtually allows "England to vassalize Scotland" if you form Britannia but rename it to England. As I have pretty much hated the fantasy empires or at least their too strictly restricted names, this will improve my gameplay considerably and even allow me to form titles when suitable to me even if I despise their vanilla names. In above case, I would roleplay that this Britannia -> England is actually kingdom but very prestigious one, able to vassalize other, inferior kings! Not that I would do that ever, it would be Empire of Scotland/Scotia or Ireland/Hibernia in my game.

I hope the Arabic etc. dynastic sultanates/emirates can be re-named, too. Would love to play as Al-Andalus!

Anxiously waiting for the patchnotes... I hope the annoying and immersion breaking "Must not marry an infidel" is fixed. :)
