I think we can safely say what was described as Grand Witch rites by the clergy in medieval Europe was something as innocent as Midsummer festivals we do to this day in Scandinavia. And this midsummer rites were across Europe in older times, as it is a remnant of pre-christian traditions.

The Grand Rite has mainly just been adapted to the new system. We haven't done any extensive rework of the witch content, as much as I personally would like to.
