Gars couldn't post this himself today, so I'm doing it for him:

Ladies and gentlemen, this is the Captain speaking. I’ve been invited to make a short guest appearance here this week to give you an update on some of the new features that will be available to further mod Crusader Kings II once the next DLC is released.

Ever since the addition of forts to the game, there has been requests to be able to build buildings inside them just as in other settlements. Well, now you can.

And for those mods who want to present their players with their own bookmarks or additional bookmarks, the era selection screen has now been made fully customizable. So there is no longer the need to use our hard-coded localization strings or images, and the number of eras presented can now be set to anywhere from one to five.

Due to popular demand I have also added a number of new powerful scopes to triggers and effects that will make it easier to script complicated events and decisions, such as any_character and any_landed_title.

To whom an AI character gives out minor titles and religious titles are now scriptable in the same way as other decisions, and targeted decisions has gotten a new friend filter.

The new patch will also see a number of bug fixes. Some of the additional family opinion modifiers that were added earlier this year, such as uncle, nephew and niece all had some problems but are now working as designed, and the opinions between a child and his/her mother and father have now been split into several modifiers to allow for more control.

If you are interested to read more about these and other features you can head over to the mod sub-forum (https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/index.php?forums/crusader-kings-ii-user-modifications.682/) and specifically the thread Captain's Log (https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/index.php?threads/captains-log.774248/)

Over and out.

Thanks for the link.
The important part in the english wiki:
"During the battle of Al Mansurah, an episode of the Seventh Crusade, the lord of Châteaubriant saved Louis IX of France. The King permitted him to replace the pine cones with fleurs de lys, the royal French symbol. The coat of arms was henceforth Gules, semy of fleurs de lys."

Albigensian crusade, Avignon papacy after. Lots of other stuff going on.

Stupidly hyped ...just before it gets shown that the picture in the OP is completely unrelated. *cries*
If that picture is indeed a loading screen for this expansion, then every detail on it surely matters. If it shows the coat of arms of England and France, then it simply must concern those two. Maybe it's about Hundred Years' War, or something about Richard the Lionheart.

(deliberately raising the hype)

Yeah, we might see 1 or 2 dev diaries similar to these, before the expansion is announced. After that, I guess there will be 4-5 big diaries before the release.

It does make me wonder how big will this expansion be.

If I recall well, Charlemagne and Horse Lords were considered as very big expansions. CM came out 6+ months after the previous expansion. Same thing with Horse Lords.
The Old Gods, Sons of Abraham and Rajas of India were medium-to-big expansions. ToG and RoI were released rather quickly, considering their size, but I believe someone said that they were longer projects that began simultaneously with previous expansions. SoA was released some 5 months after ToG.
Minor expansions like Way of Life, The Republic and Legacy of Rome came out some 2-3 months after the previous dlc.

It's been 4+ months since Horse Lords, so you could assume that this expansion will be somewhat big. If it has been in production for a longer time, maybe it will be along the lines with the biggest expansions.

Of course, do not take this data for granted. Maybe Paradox made a bigger holiday, or dedicated more time to fix some bugs. Maybe it's just a minor DLC.
I'm pretty sure we will realize the size of it when it gets announced.

Paradox had a month long vacation around July~August.

Considering the amount of data they are willing to release and based on previous statements made by the devs [and the state of the EU4 expansion**] I figure the release date will be around late December/early January.

**moved my prediction for EU4 to late November/early December.

I believe they've said how this expansion will release sometime around Christmas.

I don't celebrate Xmas and/or any other holiday in general [live and let live, yada-yada].
What dates do companies usually release products to get them on people's shopping lists?

Can you point to the source if possible?

**Post edited to be of a more passive-aggressive nature to pacify all those who got offended by me not caring for Xmas and trying to engage in a discussion on another matter in this thread.

Not christian + don't care about religion [read as don't know holiday dates etc.].
What does that mean? Around the 25th?

This would mean December. Because many people buy Christmas presents this is a good time to release a game/DLC/product.

And actually... Christmas isn't very religious nowaday...

There has been no release date announced. What Birken said in Dev Diary #1 is that they are planning on weekly dev diaries until Christmas (Dec. 25), which implies a release about that time.

I think its an event header.

**Really, I have no preference for good or for bad, no need to get offended all of a sudden.
I don't mean to offend, but... let me google that for you.

We got some hints that this expansion might tweak diplomacy and warfare. Now this intriguing coat of arms.....
Could it actually be about Hundred Years' War?

He reminds me to Richard Plantagenet the 3rd... So exciting!

Is a late game expansion coming?
Crossing fingers! :D

I wish they would've added another button feedback: "ironic helpful" -_-

Not everyone celebrates a holiday at the same time or has sales before it.
Sorry for not caring enough to google it in the middle of the night and asking the forumites for help instead.

Whatever they are working on, I'm sure it will make our day :)

And I'd agree if it were a more complex topic. Like asking why Christmas is celebrated. But asking when it is is something substantially easier to do by googling.

Most browsers I'm familiar with open new tabs with Ctrl-T and when you type it automatically goes to the address bar (so you don't even need to click).

Whenever you type something in that isn't a URL, they search for it on a search engine and show you the results.

Chrome Google's it, IIRC Edge/Explorer Bing it, etc.

Point is Ctr-T + "What day is Christmas" will take less effort than you original post, be much quicker (loading times vs people's response times), and not lead to the sort of conversation that inevitably follows:

"Not christian + don't care about religion [read as don't know holiday dates etc.**]."

Or if anything, "I don't celebrate Christmas, what day is it?"

I was going to simply delete my original post for derailing the topic, but decided to change it to appease just you.
Not wanting to cause further distress to folks, I'll try to refrain from future engagement in the topic unless it directly relates to release dates.

Also, thank you for your educating post on browsers and search engines [and yes, MS does use their own search engine Binge on their own browsers Edge and Explorer]. Really wasn't aware of it in my line of work. Obviously, Xmas itself wasn't the subject of the question; it was the suggested release date.

Happy holidays and a happy new year

The DLCs are there to finance patchs. And every DLC Patch also has bug fixes.
but not every dlc fix broken things which annoy players, like buged seduction..it is over 11 months that this dlc was relased, lots of small patches, one dlc patch and still not working as it should.
