Hello everyone. Today we’ll continue talking about subject interactions for Common Sense.

First of all. You can now always change the name and adjective of your colonial nation with a modify action on the subject screen.

Placate Local Ruler & Embargo Rivals, which we talked about last week, can of course also be done on protectorates and colonial nations.

Send Officers
This is a toggle that can be turned on/off on protectorates. When on, the overlord will pay an additional 33% of that nations land maintenance costs. However, their Liberty Desire is reduced by 10% as long as its on, and they get +20% Land Morale and +5% Discipline.

Divert Trade
This is another toggle on protectorates. While its on, you get 100% of their tradepower, but their Liberty Desire is increased by 30%.

Seize Territory
As you can’t integrate protectorates, but sometimes need some territory from them, you can now seize provinces from them. However, you need to have positive relation with them, and their liberty desire need to be below 50. The province you take have to be within coring range, and taking it will have severe impact on their desire to stay a protectorate.

Tariffs
Increase and Decrease Tariffs for Colonial Nations have been moved into this screen. Of course that is still accessible if you dont buy Common Sense.

Replace Governor
If a colonial nation is below 50% Liberty Desire, you can attempt to replace the governor up to once a year, but it will increase Liberty Desire slightly.

Start Colonial War
Now, you can always demand that your colonial nation (if at peace, and not having a truce), start a colonial war against someone they have a casus belli upon. Colonial Nations now also get casus bellis on all adjacent primitives.

Promote Investments
Trade companies have a toggle now, where you can increase the tradepower by 50%, for a small ticking increase of inflation.

Next week we’ll talk about new nations, new ideas and gameplay balance tweaks.

Here's a bonus screenshot of some possible Parliament issues for Great Britain..

Unless vassals get an option to give their trade power to the overlord their purpose will always be to be annexed asap - and that raises many questions about overall strategy (esp in upstream nodes), .

I like to keep vassals for their troops sometimes, but this fella speaks the truth. Paradox please enable us to get trade power from all our vassals. They can keep their dirty income and give me trade power.

Strangely, I seem to recall Paradox making statements to the effect that annexation is the expected fate of vassals.

Could we also please get the option to change colours of Colonial Nations on the Fly?
That would be amazing :)

Yeah, I also want to be able to change the colors of my CNs instead of trying hard to tell the difference between 50 shades of <insert your country color>.

I would also like to be able to change my color as well ...

Most likely this has already been discussed, but given that Burgundy now starts with a bunch of PU's, how will that affect the Burgundian Inheritance event?

Doesn't this make the Exploration Finisher kinda redundant?
No because that CB is for you, not your vassals and is on any "Primitives" on the map, the CN one is just for ones they border, you can use the Exploration CB to annex natives for starting up colonies

Also depending on the exact stats of the CBs the exploration CB might be better still

It almost certainly has to but as far as I am aware they haven't told us how it has changed yet

Do protactorates need relationship slots now? They are rediculus strong if they don't cost you anything to control.

Hmm, not really? You could annex huge chunks of land and core with the overseas discount, or you could protectorate for trade power and take small chunks now and then. This is assuming there are no exploits and it is properly balanced, of course.

These changes make me want Common Sense right now.
I'm pretty sure I've been having that problem since the first dev diary, which revealed that they'd fixed something I'd been finding horribly annoying for ages :)

Seize Territory would also be a good feature to have on your Marches, so you can let him 'roll' on the front...

Which thing was that? I thought the first dev diary was for the patch.
The patch and the DLC that funds it are, from a scheduling perspective, inseparable. Thus, as soon as the dev diary said "o hai we've fixed something really really annoying", I was like "come on, hurry up and release the expansion already" :)
