EU4 - Development Diary - 6th of June 2017

Good day all. It's Tuesday, so that means that it's time for another EU4 dev diary....on any other day than today. But June 6th is Sweden's National Day, so I'm sitting in my shorts enjoying a rare spot of sun

Well, regardless of that, I want to talk about a couple more things being updated alongside v1.22. The Custom Nation Designer and Achievements

The Custom Nation designer for owners of El Dorado continues to be a popular choice for players and we wanted to return to it to add many of the new bonuses. The game has evolved plenty since its introduction in early 2015 and many modifiers have been added since then to accommodate such evolutions. As such, we bring these to the Nation Designer. I'll admit, we looked at some of the modifiers and thought "Who would create a nation with THIS?" but decided that it's your nation, your rules. In they went

This list is potentially non-exhaustive (I'm on my balcony, not the office) but we are happy with how the list turned out, much like how we added Monarch Personalities to the designer in Rights of Man.

Another thing coming along with Third Rome and 1.22 are the new Achievements. As ever, our talented 2D artist @The Real Timor was ready, digital pen in hand to whip up 10 new ones for us all.

With Third Rome's release little over a week away, we'll be looking at the Patchnotes as usual next Dev Diary. 'Till then, Happy Sweden Day!

Aw man, two of my earliest games were Ryazan and Garhwal. The latter was especially challenging, as all the land you can easily expand into is terrible and all of your neighbours hate you. Note to self, stop playing countries without country-specific achievements. :p

But really, it all looks excellent. Though it is kind of strange that Muscovy is like the only European major without a country-specific achievement, even though nearly all of its vassals (and all other independent Russian nations) have one. Not that a Muscovite achievement would be difficult, it's just strange that there isn't one.

What's custom_free_leader_pool and custom_global_trade_goods_size_modifier? Is the latter the same modifier manufactories have?
+to number of possible leaders and + to goods produced in your country (in all provs).

I like that they added more modifiers to custom nations, no more need in mods for that, if you want some unique custom country.
Just imagine little duchy in HRE for achievment with 50 points(add craven dynasty and 0-0-0 heir to be disinherited in 1s day of game to balance the cost), which have ideas with lower core-cost, unjustified demands, agressive expantion impact, fire damage, artillery CB, artillery damage from backrow and discipline. With quality+economic+offensive ideas. It is mid-lategame monster! No need in "elan"/"army professionalism", just disintegrate your enemies.

Praise the gods, merc spamming is back! I can see it now...
mercenary cost discount, mercenary maintenance discount, max mercs bonus, merc discipline, reinforce discount...

Well, after publishing all of the diaries about Third Rome, there is one thing I can't understand.
Why as person on cover used Peter the Great? Man that abolished the Patriarchate, subordinated Church to the state and disbanded streltsy.
I almost sure it some kind of trolling.:D

This new expansion have nothing related with him or i'm wrong? In fact, more suitable person for content you're offer is Ivan IV Grozny.

Well maybe there is a streltsy uprising event or disaster or somethinkz.
But Yah Ivan the terrible is probably more suited for the time period.
And forming the tsardom Will be defenitely worth it. and with all Those achievements playing as the minors Will be so fun. Kinslaying along the way :D.

Peter did crush the Swedes in Poltava though which marked the beginning off the end off the Swedish Empire, thats probably what the PDX devs remember most lol.

He was very focussed on the west and transitionted the country towards customs off progressive French courts. And that is when the streltsy and the boyars among others rebelled. And that is why i want there to be An event or disaster related to this :D. The possible event chain Should be About the divide between western influence and traditional Russian customs. Befriending the west would than start the rebellions but give you Some monarch perhaps, staying traditional would decrease autonomy but give a penalty to the institution spread off the enlightment especially. Or like a tech penalty for the current monarch or something.

Also Peter upgraded his title from tsar to emperor off all russias, hereby upsetting the direct neighbors even further. So id say Some event would lower opinion towards you for countries like the PLC , Sweden and Ottomans or whoever rules over there.

And the disposition off the patriarch Should upset the clergy estate and spawn rebels. Or if you dont you get tolerance off the true faith bonus but some penalty accordingly.

Anyway seeing as he is the picture i suppose maybe something off the like made it into the DLC.

If not i might Actually make a suggestion :D

I'm not really a fan of achievements which require you to start over as very similar countries or just require you to survive and play until a certain year (for example when manufactories become available).

But I like multiple achievements which you can get in the same playthrough so that's appreciated.
