Today, we bring news regarding the future of Star Trek: Infinite, a journey we've embarked on together with a lot of excitement.

Sadly, we must inform you that Star Trek: Infinite will not receive further updates.

Together, we've explored distant worlds, faced formidable adversaries, and created a community bound by a shared love for the Star Trek universe.

We want to extend our gratitude to those who have been the backbone of this journey. To the incredible team at Nimble Giant whose dedication and creativity made Star Trek: Infinite a reality. Working alongside such a talented group has been a privilege.

Equally, our partners at Paramount deserve a world of thanks. Your support and insights have been an invaluable resource, enriching our development process and enabling us to craft the game that stands before our community today. Your commitment to this project has helped us navigate the vastness of the Star Trek universe with authenticity and passion.

Lastly, we cannot express enough gratitude for you, our community, for your support, enthusiasm, and dedication. Your engagement, feedback, and passion have been the driving force behind this adventure. You've built more than just a player base; you've forged a community of explorers united under the banner of Star Trek.

Though our journey in updating Star Trek: Infinite concludes here, the universe we've created together remains. The legacy of Star Trek: Infinite will live on through you, the community, and the adventures you continue to share.

Thank you for being a part of this incredible voyage, live long and prosper.

But unfortunately one question still comes to mind. Why did management decide to bring the release onto the market at all when the end was foreseeable only a short time later? Then you could have given the release as a gift.Such a strategic decision is usually not made overnight. In my opinion, sincere communication towards paying customers looks different."A rogue who thinks evil"

It is not Paradox's fault, nor is it NGE's fault either. It is most likely Paramounts decision because they OWN Star Trek.

As for others, Steam/Valve has been known to be lenient in their refund policy. IF you wish to refund, let them know that the development of the game was cancelled and they'll likely grant it.

But to be fair, I ain't going to refund it. Why?

Because the Modding Community is going to keep the game alive and will continue to mod the game, regardless of this announcement. I too am disappointed by this announcement, but I am not going to give up on it, unlike others here.

Further more, it is not a Stellaris game with a Star Trek skin on it. Many people have explained its uniqueness time and time again. Anyone who keeps crying that it is a Stellaris game with a Star Trek skin is basically a troll at this point.

I refuse to let this game die and the Modding Community won't quit either. So if you still wish to refund, give it a shot. But I believe this game will certainly stay alive, regardless.

We already had a full free MOD, lol

I am disappointed but not surprised following the events at nimble giant. I do feel that that the game is far from complete, rushed to market when nimble giant will have known about their imminent demise and we, the customer, have been badly treated. This reflects poorly on Paradox. I don't want to join the doom and gloom brigade and look forward to some good new products from Paradox. But I won't pre order or adopt early when I no longer have confidence that a game will be in good order on release or be patched to be so post release. Paradox please take note that this has shaken my confidence in your integrity and trust is not easy to regain.

It is a functional game, entirely Single Player though. As for Multiplayer issues being resolved? Well, if the game is not removed from steam, then all that is left is the modding community to keep the game alive. Which has happened quite a few times, where a modding community kept games alive.

This is not necessarily the end, IMO. If the modding community does keep the game alive, and if sales were to go up, perhaps these three companies can return to the table in the future. When? Who knows.
I wouldn't find much motivation in modding a game the devs themselves gave up on pretty much immediately. At least with Imperator: Rome Paradox still tried to make something out of it, and, even though I disagree with its fans that they succeeded, I still respect that (though, for a paid product, it should really also be expected). Here, though? A goodbye written in annoying marketing-speak, trying to pretend waiting for any communication from the devs was a captivating journey? My journeys to the supermarket are a lot more exciting.

EDIT: I can't even read the opening post... Honestly, if you (the devs; sorry, I don't mean you, SpikePhoenix) give up on a project people paid for, show some humility and don't try to make it into something it's not. This wasn't a journey or a voyage, it wasn't incredible or exciting, it was annoying and, to be honest, embarrassing. Explain what went wrong, apologise, offer refunds and go on with your day. It's better to have a post saying nothing more than 'Sorry, no more updates' than this.

But anyway, I wish you all the best.

There was one game - a strategy with turn-based moves in the second part, and real time in the first. The game was called with the letter S. The developer also abandoned the development of these parts and after a while the game community fixed bugs, tightened up the scripts, added a little content here and there through one global mod.
When the developer returned, a year and a half later, he made contact with the community and officially added this “community” mod, with the permission of the people who made it, in the form of an official patch. In the end, everyone won - the players who received the official update, the modders who received recognition of their work and dedication to the game, and the developer himself, who revived his long-abandoned game.
Maybe this would be a good example and solution for Star Trek? Loyal fans have a large base, modders have long known both the engine and scripts, gradually they can also create a couple of popular patches, which, if they give permission, and you consider these mod patches in the spirit of your vision of the game, they can be officially added to the game. I think this would be an ideal solution to avoid burying the game.

So, "Star Trek: Finite" then? And the shutters brought down after just 6 months? Just absolutely terrible, the Star Trek brand deserves far more and better than this.

definitely

It is baffling to me how such a great and beloved IP like Star Trek is so underused in games

There is barely any great, or even decent, game released in the last 10 years or longer... it is deeply saddening and frustrating.

FFS, instead of copying Stellaris, they could simply remaster or improve upon Birth of Federation, one of greatest Trek strategies ever made, back in 1999!

Extremely, exceptionally, incredibly unlikely. That is not how game licensing works. Paradox likely paid an up front license cost only. There may have been a percentage of profit or revenue as well. But Paramount would not be funding or directing this game except as per part of the licensing agreement, where they have a level of oversight into the content of the game.

This game failed for one reason.

It wasn't good enough, and didn't sell enough.

And that's on the publisher and the developer.

It's because no-one knows how to make one that's any good that adheres to what Star Trek is about. At least in current year. Add in the extreme costs of making games now, and it's harder than ever to make a good Trek game.

So thats it.
I can't be mad at the devs because they were excited for the future of it.
Those in charge, I genuinely despise.
I'm pretty much done with Paradox, they screwed up Cities Skylines 2, now they drop the ball on this game which is insane (the amount of money you could get with dlc is insane and yall let it slide).

I hope the modders keep the game alive and manage to make other playable teams for us.
I'm sorry for the Devs that really wanted to continue this project, sorry you got screwed over by paradox.

I have things in my fridge that are older than this game. Like I don't want to clown on the game, but they could've at least waited for the game to become 6 months old.
