MSI - Your Ladder to the Stars

Warmest greetings from Minamar Specialized Industries!

We delight in meeting new peoples and welcoming them into the greater galactic community. With over 143 successful uplifts to date, we’re the acknowledged leaders in the field of social and technological ascendancy. We’re thrilled to finally make your acquaintance, and hope to add your world to our success story.

We understand that this is all very sudden. Receiving a transmission ‘from the stars’ has likely come as a surprise to you, but we’ve been watching your world for some time and your civilization scores very highly on several relevant metrics. With an evaluation score of ?ERROR_UNDEFINED, the people of ?ERROR_HOMEWORLDNAMENOTFOUND have been flagged as particularly worthy of cooperative enlightenment. Congratulations!

We have assigned some of our best specialists to your case, and our representatives will be arriving on world shortly. We can’t wait to meet in person to discuss the benefits of ascendency as well as the terms of this beautiful arrangement.

Enlightenment may not be free. But at MSI, it’s always worth the cost.

Your friends at Minamar Specialized Industries

I'm leaning towards this is a new crisis. These three sentences are what point me in that direction:

"With an evaluation score of ?ERROR_UNDEFINED, the people of ?ERROR_HOMEWORLDNAMENOTFOUND have been flagged as particularly worthy of cooperative enlightenment."

"We have assigned some of our best specialists to your case, and our representatives will be arriving on world shortly. We can’t wait to meet in person to discuss the benefits of ascendency as well as the terms of this beautiful arrangement."

Broken FE AI that is rampaging across the galaxy "enhancing" everyone, possibly assimilating or randomly mutating everyone?
Or take from Mass Effect's Reapers, harvesting organics for ascension.

Whilst all additions to Stellaris are appreciated, this makes me think that the long desired internal politics rework is probably not happening this time around. Such a change would be the biggest aspect of a given DLC, and emphasising the primitive interactions rework first means internal politics may yet again be on the backburner.

Which does sadden me, as internal politics is in my opinion the area of the game both most in need of an overhaul and the area of the game that is the most promising in terms of new mechanics.
Honestly that sounds more like a Custodians job. This is is almost certainly a DLC patch.

The long awaited Internal Politics overhaul won't be a DLC. It's just too core to the Stellaris experience. But yes, I would expect all of the expansion to be focused around internal politics, and things that interact with it, so I agree it's probably not coming this time. Still, primitives are another aspect of the game that have been waiting on an overhaul for quite some time, so this hopefully will be a fun one.

I'm beginning to feel like (possibly 'fear') the many calls for an internal politics and/or factions rework are being deliberately ignored, but Paradox is keeping this quiet for reasons it has not (and maybe will not?) disclose. I'm baffled as to why.

Has anyone else asked for a Primatives rework? Genuine question, because I haven't seen it. Internal politics, factions, religion and hive minds - I've seen many requests for those for quite some time.

I'm also quite saddened, because we now take a pretty good guess that we're going to have to wait for the *next* Crisis Team update before the next opportunity for an internal politics rework rolls around... and based on the recent track record, it probably won't even happen then. Speculation on my part, sure, but speculation borne out of previous disappointments.

I think everyone has forgotten about our favourite Enigmatic Cache BALDOR XXXXIII.

Greetings, <<FAILING_TO_READ_SPECIES_NAME>>.\n\nDo not be alaX#r?med. I am BALDOR XXXXIII, a sentient AI operating on behalf of the Lavosian Endangered Xeno Preservation Grant. You, of all your galactic peers, have been selected for //X%PrX// uplifting. So far we have uplifted <<#39XX7/02#>> lesser species with a succ@r¤4te of <<#X0.V#/3^189%>>.

You are within the early st4?4ges of sapient development and your technological advancement has already stagnated. This puts you at risk of imminent regression. Let us open your <<FAILING_TO_READ_SPECIES_CLASS_SENSORY_ORGAN>> to the wonders of the universe.

Long-range data transfer and cognitive stimulation through hypn0pedia. It is a highly efficient, well-tried, largely pain-free process that allows me to exercise your population's intellectual faculties in their sleep.\n\nI am required to inform you that the side-effects of heightened cognitive abilities in organics may include, but are not limited to, disillusionment, acid reflux and bottomless despair. In certain <<FAILING_TO_READ_SPECIES_CLASS>> it may also cause severe <<FAILING_TO_READ_SPECIES_CLASS_SIDE_EFFECT>>.

I cant wait to start testing military ordinance on primitives as they use their ingenuity to come up with new defense methods for me to steal in a relatively contained environment

I've gone out of my way to generate buzz for a primitive DLC on every site Paradox uses, sorry. I may have slightly been responsible.

Shame, current system makes playing Xenophile empires with biological ascension (and probably cybernetic one, too) really unfun.
yes. Doing that.
i somewhat try to make habitats full of perfect pops for the job..

But planets would be a nightmare with shuffling pops around. I do not care how much micro it would be but i want to be able to modify pops per job or better have a pop be assimilated for a job.

I create pops with +60% science or 45% minerals or food or energy and so on. But to really use that..... no.. kill me now.... it is just not feasible.

Maybe Canis Minor is a Story Pack 'filler' release to keep the content designers busy while the developers work on internal politics in the next expansion, Canis Major.

I might be wrong but it could be that they have either troubles code wise to implement proper internal politics. Something every PDX game is lacking up to a degree .which brings me to the second aspect, maybe they have no clue of how to do an internal politics mechanic that is fun as well as giving some real perks and challenges.

At this point I can't see how the internal politcs mechanic of either HoI IV (America or Italy) or V3 would work in Stellaris.

The game has been overdue for a Caste System civic for a while now. One where you set a species rights that limits their job opportunities.

Okay, first off. I LOVE the Vaporwave-styled art. 10/10. Beautiful.

Secondly, while people are noting that this may be a "Primitive Species" update, I want to note the potential for a Corporate Fallen Empire, which is exciting for me.

Overall, I can't wait to see what comes out!

I really hope this leads to more player origins as well, such as fighting off an alien invasion as your origin.
The X-Com example has of course already been referenced.

I hope its a chance to rework/improve both primitives and fallen empires. Yes, fallen empires, because from their standpoint the regular empires are primitives too.
