Didn't you say you wanted to prevent FE from declaring war on players in first place because of some 'oh noes, restricts playstyles' reasons? Or did you mean to write AFE?
I mean, I'm innately against making FE's sitting ducks.

Colonizing or building a frontier outpost next to a Xenophobic FE is not a 'playstyle'.

Precursor chain becomes player only? Not a best solution IMO.

It's a stopgap measure to give them some utility while we fix the more fundamental issues like retargeting and how PD works.
I can foresee a lot of complains like "my 10k missile fleet got wiped by 5k kinetic fleet, AI cheat", unless fleet power calculation also has a stopgap measure of treating missiles differently.

I know you're joking but just to clarify anyway: There will be no DLC of any sort accompanying the Utopia expansion. Just the update and the expansion, which includes all additional graphics and music.
Ah see, the Utopia "expansion." Is that paid for again? or did I miss that it was free?

I feel like even bothering with core worlds at all will be a very specific kind of playstyle. Voidborn Pacifists Federation Builders? But how fun it could be? Sitting with ~8 core worlds for the whole party doing nothing aside short periods of ruling over Federation fleets?

The Utopia expansion is DLC, of course, it just won't be accompanied by any further DLC, cosmetic or otherwise.

What will happen with on-going games (particularly considering I'll be buying Utopia immediately)? Will they continue to operate on the 1.4 specs, be upgraded to 1.5 but not enable Utopia content, enable the new Utopia content, or just become incompatible and force me to restart my game 7 days from now?

Reasonable point.
So you only disabled Spiritual/Materialist non-awakened FE declaring war on you for having law X? (Come to think of it, did I skip that in the changelog or was it not mentioned?)

As well, YEY, first time for Wiz to ever address me directly in some form or another. I feel (less in)significant now.

Either I'm missing something or I can't seem to find that "special note" that Björn supposedly added to the game's audio...

I wonder, what is the most cryptic line in the patch notes?

The American Space Empire dose not approve of this!
This reminds me that I have to redesign my United Stars of Murrica empire now that they've removed individualism.

Freedom isn't free, but galactic demand is high so prices are low. USM will export freedom to all. Purchase (and happiness) is mandatory.

Saves should load in 1.5 but they really won't work well. You can revert game to 1.4 via steam betas if you want to finish any current campaigns.

wow, thats a big mid and late game nerf
Yeah, but arguably Collectivist Slaves were a micro hassle with little gameplay benefits, whilst Individualists had the huge Migration combo for rapid expansion.
Fixing the former and nerfing the latter means we might see a reasonable balance between Authoritarian/Egalitarian.

It also makes Nomadic a worthwhile trait, and Sedentary a meaningful malus. Before it didn't matter because hey, that planet was getting a dozen colonists in a single wave before the first Farm and frontier outpost is finished anyway, who cares if some showed up a year early or later? Now it could reduce or increase the time it takes to fill a planet via migration by a significant margin.
