This is interesting. I assume its restricted and can only be used in specific provinces?

I’m also wondering how Gustav Vasa’s settlement program is different from this. He accelerated the colonization of Finland quite a lot, and many parts of the country were only settled during his reign in the 1500s.

yes, its limited to Norrland and Finland, and its based on the settlement program.

Is it confirmed then that we will get one TF per single country, no matter how small or interconnected it is with others? Like iberia or low countries or Great Britain?
One TF per country, yes. So some will be meatier and 'panoramic', while others will be more in-detail and 'focused'.

1.If a country conquers a country that has a culture specific advance will it have access to it?
1,5. Will it have access to it's units, say GB conquers an indian country will it get elephant cavalry? At least when it integrates the culture?
No, as it scopes to the primary culture of the country.

small question :

can we talk in the flavour talk next week about event chains for the unification of Italy / other Italian formables, or we need to wait for a separate flavour talk?
Better to focus on Florence, TBH.

I was very confused why oland (I assumed it was in Sweden or something) had the emoji then I realized it was Poland lol
I was also quite confused when just scrolled over the post, and found the emoji randomly appearing, lol.

Great recap!

Is there any chance that you'll show in Tinto Flavor posts some of the script linked to it? An event here, an IO there...
While reminding it's wip and not representative of any blahblahblah :p
It won't be common, but I'll show the script from time to time, as in one of my replies to today's TF.

Hard to trick you guys into revealing the number of TFs and thus hinting at release date. Almost as if you were constantly expecting such questions.
We aren't constantly expecting such questions, we are constantly bombarded by such questions. :p

I know this is not the right dev diary for this, but why are these three republics? They were ruled by lords(monarchs), even though they may have been calling themselves republics the Italian Signorias were basically the equivalent of a medieval dicatatorship, tell me there is flavour that represents this or please change them to monarchies!

More on the Italian Signorias next Friday...

In medieval Serbia, rulers called german settlers, miners to boost mining, so it might be possible despite Serbia being orthodox by event/police/something else?
Yes, we actually have Serbian pops living there in 1337, so we might expand the event to a few more regions.

Script variables are namespaced with their type, LEEEET'S GOOOOO

Now, is it enforced by compilation/necessary for it to even work, or is it optional and just a help for the content creator?
And if it's enforced/necessary, why suffix areas and regions with "_area", "_region" (and not religions with "_religion")?

absolutely required if you want to use the name lookup and is not using a save scope.

suffix is to avoid localization conflicts for geographical places

What happens if you run out of elephants? I suppose the unit's strength will decrease over time

yes, and you'd not be able to reinforce, etc

A question for which I fear the answer, but what is the state - and, indeed, the goal - of immersion for countries that are played completely different from their historical selves? Is playing a mercantile, almost Hansa-like Prussia going to feel like you're having to pull the game away from screaming in your ears that you should be goosestepping, or will it actually feel like the country I am playing?
We are focusing on the historically immersive flavour content, and not doing much on the alt-historical content. But it is definitely possible to play a Mercantile Prussia if you want, there are enough game systems (Societal Values, Laws, Estate Privileges, Parliament, Advances, etc.) to make it doable.

I’m not sure about blocking access to German settlers to Orthodox countries at least. Russian empire invited huge influx of Germans to its territory both low-ranked (see Volga Germans) or nobles (see every second surname of Russian general in Enlightenment period)
It would need to be through a different content asset (perhaps an event), designed and implemented differently, as the conditions of the German influx to Russia in the Modern Age were a bit different to that of Eastern Europe in the High and Late Middle Ages.

Can unique units also get bonuses from climate?, I’m thinking something like an Arabian unit getting arid bonuses or a Swedish unite gaining less winter malaises.
Yes! We already have a Bedouin Cavalary unit more fit for Desert and Arid terrains.

What about Prussia? also is Silesia considered part of the Polish region?
Both are part of the Polish region (and, as I've mentioned, regions are WIP and will be reworked, that's why we haven't shown them yet).

tbh I instead love IOs, they're unique enough to not feel stale (since event scripted ones can have lots of flavour) while being very modular (thus making implementing said flavour easy)

I imagine stuff like trade leagues, confederations, imperial systems etc etc

for example, let's take Spain :

Spain once hits GP status and has at least a colonial nation as a subject unlocks the "Spanish Empire" IO, in which all colonial nations under Spanish rule and Spanish IOs become part of. This IO unlocks its nifty actions etc etc. Gameplaywise it makes it much easier to visualise what the Spanish empire is, and it gives the player a nice tab to see that (instead of a cluttered and unreadable diplo tab)

same stuff you could make for England, France, the Ottomans, Majahapit, an Italian confederation, the united provinces of the Netherlands, so on so forth

it has honestly just so much potential, and I love it
Oh, by 'concept' I meant the 'name', sorry, just edited my reply for better clarity.

No, we also love IOs as a game mechanic, I think that it will blow your minds when you get to see their full potential...

This is awesome! Sorry if this has been asked before, but will we be able to demand art in peace deals? Say I'm the ERE and I beat Venice for the Aegean territories, could I also demand the artifacts they stole in the fourth crusade?

Good idea.. should be easy to add as a peace treaty..

This galley has 10 cannons, but id does not require cannons to be built and maintained. I'm curious why?
Will some ships require cannons?

its an abstraction.

you better blow my mind or else I'll be sorely disappointed. I've been in absolute hype for this mechanic since it has been announced. It has a jaw dropping potential for flavour implementation and I can't wait to witness it
And I think that we will just be looking at the tip of the iceberg by the release of the game, as it really has so much potential... :)
