I cant recal if I voted in that poll or not, if I did it was for CK thats for sure!

However, the Vicky crowd is very vocal, IMO they are obsessed, they probably all registered multiple accounts :p. I dont know, I played Vicky and it never really grabbed my interest like CK or other P'dox games have.

I cant really see the economic logic in having a small minority of people deciding what game gets made. Making people feel good is one thing, but keeping the company in the black is far more important. I dont like this "break even" talk, doesnt look good right off the bat.

I hope its successfull, but only for selfish reasons, if Vicky 2 flops then what are the chances for a CK2?

then it is decided, buy vichy 2 if you want to get CK2 sometime + we get to see King(atleast i think it was him) with a shaved head:D

No it is Fredrik the CEO of Paradox Interactive. :)

I hope that Vicky2 becomes a success, since I think that would be good for the chances of CK2.

If Vicky2 doesn't make a profit or break-even, the changes that Paradox will make another remake of a game that didn't sell that well in its first version, are much smaller.

What worries me is that if Vicky 2 doesn't sell very well (i.e. crashes and burns) Paradox may decide that they need to bring out a game that is gonna make a half decent profit. The logical choice for this would be something in the EU series, which means more of a wait of CKII.

Have Paradox given a statement that might indicate their plans after Vicky2?

With a little bit imagination CK2 can very well be made more profitable than Vicky 2, simply because the late Medieval period of time is more popular than the 19th century.

I understand why CK didn't sell very well, it needed a lot of patches to be playable and the end product remained much less polished than Vicky. I'd say currently Vicky is definatly a better game than CK, but the concept of CK is better, so I think it has a higher potential of being a top seller.

I am another one who didn't even know the poll existed, and would sure as hell have voted for a CK2!
As for the ongoing map debate, I agree, Rome#s map was nice, what i think people object to is the EU3 map, which is just ugly.

I will definitely buy CKII. CK with DV is the best game ever.

I am one of those rabid Vicky fans, but honestly, I do not see much room for improvement with Vicky:R + event mods. It is sort of like EU2 + AGC-EEP, the game reached a pinnacle that is fantastic.

On topic, CKII would be fantastic if only because CK + DV has so much untapped potential. A couple of ideas I would like to see;

- In addition to the personal demense court, allowing for Kings to set up outside administrations staffed by counts and dukes or other nobles of the realm.

- Allow for the granting of titles to family members w/o giving up land in certain feudal contract laws. (For historical reference, it was fairly common for English kings to grant sons titles while still directly administering the land in question, see William the Conqueror and the County of Maine).

Really I would just like to see CK2 made before HOI4.

Get out the pitch forks and torches lads...:p

I like this idea, though I'm assuming that if a CKII did get made we might see more provinces, perhaps? That would help lesson the impact of having lots of kids and little land to give without taking it back from vassals, which I find kind of gamey.

I, for one, had completely given up on ever seeing a Vicky 2.

Since a hope beyond hope has been fulfilled, and I enjoy the random CK game myself, I don't have a problem supporting the cry for a CKII when the opportunity arises. I think CK on the new engine would be very interesting and I would love to see it come about. I also hope they change army recruitment a bit.

Especially if it irritates the new crop of HOI3 players.;) But that's a personal goal.

Of course, if you guys want a bit of extra support, putting away the pitchforks and torches would be a really good idea, lest we break out the new iron artillery technology.:p

Choice A : Release Crusader Kings 2 before things get out of hand!

- Effect Revolt is removed from CK forums.
- Loyalty of all courtiers in CK forums set to 100.

Choice B : They have to know their rightfull place! Destroy them!

- Lose 6 stability.
- Loyalty of all courtiers in CK forums set to 0.
- All PI staff get the trait: Realm Duress.
- The mongol horde appears at CK forums.

So the choice is obvious.

Silly humans.... - He smiled while looking at the post. - They underestimate my power.

He placed his hand on the book lying in front of him.

Let them come. For I have the ultimate power.

He opened the book and looked at the letters written in blood of the fans of the old age.

"THE ULTIMATE CHEAT CODES"

A thunder lighted the black sky.

"F12", the key read. The man pressed it. A small console would appear, where words could be typed. A word was typed, several times, over and over. In the end, not much was left, except for the word.

Indeed.

I've been looking at some Rome screenshots, and I gotta say, it looks wonderful, MUCH better than EU3. Mayhaps that could be used?

Edit - And thinking of buying it too, is it worth it?

Rome with VV is definatley worth it at its price - i think its cheap now. The trouble is its a bit prone to CTD's (in my expirience), and is badly in need od mod support - there is RIMP and soon Imperium, but there is hardly anybody working on it at all and like CK, it has so much potential.

A CK could definatley be built from it though, or better still the engine could allow one game with both CK and Rome era to an extent - late Roman period (c. 400) - 1453.

Also, a CK2 definatley needs the amount of levels and types of govt.s expanded, to show, for example, the difference between being the HRE and King of Germany, or being the Eastern Roman Emperor from being King of Greece.
