Sorry I can't tell you guys more about the more important powers, but my responsibility in this mod has mainly been for the Middle East, Central Asia, Siberia and India. Narakir already worked out the situation for the most important nations so perhaps he could tell you more if you want.

Will this be for Armageddon or AoD? I ask, as AoD lets you mod minister traits, and with the level of detail you have put into ministers, it would be a shame to give them the generic HOI2 minister traits

The first release will be for HoI2:Armageddon- I don't know about Narakir but personally I feel people have waited long enough for this Mod and if we postponed it to make it AoD compatible that would just be more frustrating for people who are looking forward to playing this mod.

We'll release an Armageddon version, see how people like the mod, then expand on it, fix any bugs etc, and make it AoD compatible for the final version.

I'm thinking about AoD long time before it's release so yes there will be an AoD version, the tech-tree has already been adapted to be AoD compatible (you'll get different techs benefits in vanilla) but for the moment AoD isn't something I would call playable, because it's relay slow on some computers including mine, so we won't be doing anything until they release a fix for this issue. Tough we'll port AoD upgrades (tech teams, leaders etc...) in the Armageddon version so you'll only miss the core game-play features.

About the ministers traits : We don't plan to create new minister traits, except perhaps for some famous/special people, this would take a way to much time to review the whole minister database and putting all the new traits into generic ministers, however we're going to change the generic ministers traits to make them more "human" and balanced as they're going to have bad and good sides so choosing them would be more tricky. For example the administrative genius, most people's preferred minister of armament would be very more like a cold-hearted but very efficient technocrat :D.

Ny idea when that is?? (release Date)
No, maybe at the end of summer if everything goes well.

It will depend, several aspects of the mod has been reworked a lot of time (especial the tech tree and unit balance) over the last years and once the mod is finished I plan to continue to do so as long I feel it's needed. It doesn't make sense to drop something after the first release when you dedicated so much time for it and if AoD makes the game better I don't see why the mod couldn't follow.

sounds great

i'm looking forward to this -- hopefully you can whip it out over the summer!

No offense to the mod or the devs, but considering the mod has been in work since 2007 there havn't been a whole lot of work shown to us. I understand that you are doing all the work on free time but i assume some of the people on this board are quite anxious to get their hands on this quite impressive mod. This might also be the reason why they want to see some more of the amazing work. I'm quite intressted myself in getting some information on how the situation in Africa and Europe will be. In normal hoi2 those two theatres are the most intressting ones and it would be fun to see what this mod has done to these theatres of war.

Hello guys, I hope most of you won't have given up, the mod is still in progress and I'm in need of your opinion on an important matter regarding some "new" units.

As most moders know, having "new units" means removing or using other methods like having special models. Originally it was planned for W&R to use the standard vanilla units without any changes. However at some point during the development the idea of adding new stuff and removing less useful units often came on the table, super-heavy tanks have already been changed to heavy artillery and we have different naval brigades than those from vanilla. But, the next idea was more problematic and perhaps more groundbreaking.

I've played HOI2 a lot during and before the development, this helped to search new ideas but also thinking about what seemed strange/useless/ineffective in this game and we came to point that some elite infantry divisions such as marines and mountaineers weren't very useful in most cases. Of course these units are effective, but they're designed for specific terrains which makes them a lot less cost effective than regular infantry and they won't appear often, also I would have liked to add even more specialized infantry such as desert or arctic soldiers but with the game-code limitations it's just impossible. Facing theses issues I tough it would be nice to have a larger panel of "regular infantry" that could be upgraded for different roles.

- Mountain divisions would become : Elite infantry, better equipped and trained but slower to train and more costly.
- Marines divisions would become : Light infantry, less equipment but faster maneuver makes them perfect in desert or jungle combat for example.
- Paratroopers, begin too specific will remain the same.
- The mountaineers and marines tech branch will remain, but in order to improve "infantry" abilities in some terrain. For example : if you're the US you'll surely research the marines tech in order to improve your infantry, making them "marines corps", then you could use units elite, regular or lighter units depending on the situation.
- A desert, arctic, and jungle combat branch will be added.
- There's also some historical evidences for this choice : No nations had actual marines divisions except the US and Germans Bergsjägers where elite troops at first and used to fight in a lot of theaters that weren't mountainous or even hilly.

Basically all of this means you'll start with a larger choice in infantry that you could use more often, but at the expense of those specialized units from the vanilla game, we use less often.
