So, i downloaded 1.1 and for me, all my old peeves (or almost) still exist.
So this is my wishlist for 1.2:
Doctrines: I cannot abandon doctrine trees. I am nailed to them. As Germany i will never have anything other than Navy-Military, the Convoy Interdiction and (i think) Block enemy ships- Doctrine. I cannot abandon them. Which means that even if i have carriers the British will still whip me three ways to sunday as will the Americans.
Same goes for the Land Doctrines. It is Truppenführung and Bewegungskrieg. Its the same for all other countries. The French are damned to reenact the Great War.
I would like it very much if i could decide that i would rather head a German Revolutionary Army formed by the SA rather than the Wehrmacht or plunged my French Armoured Spearhead into the soft underbelly of Germany.
Techtree as a whole: You still cannot tell what does what and 'Flechas only helps a little. I am also stll, even after consulting Flechas and the Editor, unsure how i get to Post War (it gives 'High Quality' as Prerequisite but goes black once you start researching Heavy Industry which is a prerequisite for, you guessed it, High Quality. Same goes for other 'Post-war' techs, f.e. Post War inf, which blacks out once you research its prerequisite Semi-Pro Inf.).
If somebody could find it in their hearts to redesign the layout i would also be obligated since, well, it is not really structured.
Map: Damn small Provinces. Worst examples are Paris, the whole southwest corner near London and Sunderland and sth. which are all so small you cannot select them once units are there.
AI: The AI does not really seem to 'get' the Map. From time to time there are gaps in its frontline that can be easily exploited to encircle and destroy 12+ units, this seems to be especially common on the British Isle and in Yugoslavia (The AI seems to be incapable to defend the ISles without leaving gaps once something reaches the labyrinth of small provinces southwest of London, it was also incapable to defend against other AIs).
Invasion-Events: Fall Gelb (?), anyway the attack on the Low Countris and Belgium likes to fire somewhere in 1941, after France has already fallen for a good 1 1/2 years.
Loss of 'X' sector: Does also fire when you create a puppet. Which is kinda unlogic if you considered that the event implies loss through combat.

I write more once i happen upon more.

I really don't understand why people find tech tree so hard to understand. Just follow the arrows from the related tech and you will find the pre-requisites.

He's not saying he cannot follow the tech tree. He's stating that he does not like being restricted to only certain doctrines he is able to research (e.g. whichever nation you choose at the beginning of the game dictates which doctrines for your navy, army, and airforce that you are able to research). He is lamenting that the tech tree is not more "open" where the doctrines are concerned.

I happen to agree with him. Just because historically a nation followed a certain path does not mean that in an alternate reality/parallel universe (i.e Iron Cross) one cannot choose to follow a different path of doctrine. If nothing else, instead of locking out certain doctrines for certain nations, why not just penalize a nation with a decrease in tech speed for the ahistorical doctrines? (This would simulate the particular nation's propensity and natural aptitude in its historical school of warfare).

Hello;

But with "Iron Cross", since revision 1 you can abandon doctrines. Once the doctrine has been leave, you inevstigate it again, wait until the next day, and then stop research of this tech.. Then you will have activateed the other options.

That works.
Thank you.

How did you find this out ?? A manual would sure be helpful, so everybody knows these kind of things and can use the full potential of the game.

just tick the tech you have completed and you will see "abandon doctrine" option in top of the tab where tech effects are written. But you should remember that you can only abandon doctrine if and only if the tech is the latest of series of the same type of techs. Also, in order to abandon the entire branch of tech, you have to abandon all doctrines in this tech series from the last one you have researched to the first one.

I prefer the tech tree in iron Cross... you really have to think and plan... not just click the next tech. My only problem, and I haven't used the first patc yet, is that I can't see the unit upgrade percentage progress in statistics... Did the patch fix this?

I just started a new game as Germany and am planning to abandon the Commerce Rading Doctrine for Sea Control. Even after abandoning every tech, including 19th Century, I am unable to select Sea Control even after exiting the research screen and waiting a day. That is a serious issue as the tech tree indicates that the only requirement for Sea Control is 19th Century ideas.

restart the one you can research. then cancel the research on it. the other tree should be unlocked.
