Mutual defense is an agreement, not a requirement. When it is invoked you are asked to DoW, not forced.

Since MDP allows for proxy war, maybe the game should stop prompting you to declare war? I can see this confusing new players, or those who haven't read about proxy wars.

For that matter, the message about the MDP being triggered should probably explain proxy war in 1-3 sentences...
 
Still wondering

Some game crashes maybe solved, but the mysterious game crash when my games switch from 06. Nov. to the 7th. Nov. 1956 is still there. I had a game as germany were this happens, but it might be because the start was unpatched and than I patched....
But in my game with France the same thing happens. Unfortunately i have no savegame from this, because I didn´t know that I had to change the autosave for each game....
Now I run a game as Portugal. Very hard to get the economy running. But there were some questions about the AI. Is it hardcoded what the AI in this game does? In all three games: SU declares war on Gibraltar. Than, after conquering that little rock they declare war on Spain (not in the Portugal game, because I deploy my army there and the soviets lost several invasions). In Asia China declares war on SouthKorea. Nothing happens. Than out of a sudden NorthKorea declares war on SouthKorea. US and allied troops quickly take over NorthKorea, but when they reached the chinese border: China conquer both, NortKorea and SouthKorea....In Europe: Soviets declare war on WestGermany (only thing they do is capturing WestBerlin (Not in my first game, were I was WestGermany). The czech declare war on Greece -> Conquered; Than Turkey -> conquered; Than Iran -> Ongoing. Meanwhile they also declares war on Westgermany, the frontline is often driven for- and backward.... In Africa: UK grants independence to Eritrea, Ethiopia declares war and the british troops in Eritrea began a slow advance, conquering Ethiopia for Eritrea....... The same chronology in all three games? That was completely different in Supreme Ruler 2020 (+Global Crisis).
I hope this evening I will know wether my Portugal game jumps over the magic border of the 7th. Nov. 1956.....
 
Funny game

Still not reached Nov. 1956, so no new info about this issue.

But meanwhile, as Portugal is more a viewer than an actor the world is going to war. The wars Czech vs. Iran and Eritrea vs. Ethiopia are still there. Egypt declares war on Israel and quickly overrun it. But in Central Europe one war after the other steps in. Czech vs. West Germany runs now for years, but Netherlands, Belgium and France jump in. SU declares war on Spain, France on Eastern Germany, Poland on Spain, UK, France and Westgermany on Poland, Italy on Poland, Czech and Albania.....

Unfortunately France and West Germany have no alliance, so all land goes to France, not back to West Germany. Very sad about that. Anyway, if France put all troops, sitting in France, to the Front, they might be able to brak the czech resistance. In fact many czech troops are stranded on a greek island, together with bulgarian and hungarian troops. After getting repulsed in Gibraltar by my brave portugese army the Warsaw Pact states never tried a new invasion for example in Spain. Neither do any country invade Albania. That would happen a nice second front for the czechs in greece.....Unfortunately this did not happen.

I play on very hard military settings.

The economy is good. Portugal now is selfsufficient in Oil and I scrapped all mini and medium Cons and Ind factorys and are currently replacing them with big ones.

Now two more years to go for the final date on the 7th. Nov. Hope the game will continues, it is great fun for me.....

The US do nothing in the moment, but I see a lot of soviet troops in the wars in germany.
 
Game over: CTD Game is unplayable

The war saw Germany and France steamrolling over 1. East Germany, 2. Poland., 3. Mainland Czech (new capital is Teheran and after that shift the czechs succeeded in taking over the rest of Iran), 4. Hungary. Sadly the map looks like an exploded cake. Germany and France divided the countrys among themselves but in many peaces. If you have a look on the real wars: Germany has had many enemys during WW II, but only 5 get some occupation zones. Brazil, Canada, Australia etc. get no land in former Germany.
These zones were homogeneous and not so fragmented. Another example? Korea: All land goes either back to Southkorea or to the US; Think about the turkish troops in Korea conquering a small town deep in North Korea and than this little town remains turkish for all time? That has to be changed in my opinion.

But the biggest disappointment is the CTD. In this game I passed the magic date on the 7th. Nov. 1956 only to discover another one on the 30. Jan. 1957 were the game is always immediately closed.....Now I had tried 3 games and all comes to an end with a CTD. It seems I have to wait for some info about that, a patch or a wonder....:confused:

We're working to get the next update ready as soon as possible, we just don't want to introduce new bugs while we fix the existing ones. Sending the save gives us another check to see that we've managed to fix the bugs that are out there so never hesitate to ask for a ticket and send us a savegame. We appreciate the community working with us on this.

And for the reference, the community appreciates the interaction with the developers when we have issues like this. Sure we would all love to have the game working perfectly, but thats takes time and effort and you are working with us to get us the end result we all want.

Other developers may release a buggy game and thats it, no interaction with the fans or customers. One reason I'm such a big fan of Paradox Interactive, and now Battlegoat as well, is you do work with the fans, keep us in the loop, and adress our concerns directly.

That approach goes a long way and people will be much more accepting of problems if we know they're being worked on.

TheUNDERTAKER : we have not seen your save game yet (maybe it got filtered by an email filter or something...) however, have you tried this with the new Update 1 (game version 7.1.1 ?) That has fixed any reproducable crashes that have been sent to us so far.

I sent it again, as for now the game runs a few months stable, not errors, no ctd.
