We could test the theory that talking doesn't have any effect by only allowing a vote being posted in the forum itself, and all talking is done through PMs. Heck we could limit those as well.
You would see votecounts throughout the day, and the votes that people made.

I agree with Najs. You should've shown your skills sometime sooner, because seeing you lead the village because "Oh hey, it's AOK, he's really good, trust me" was getting annoying.
I've thought about having a game with no unvoting, though I worry that it would turn into a complete snipefest, meaning that people who can't be there for deadline would simply not play.
Banning discussion among the village however most definitely would have an effect. You cannot get wolves to out themselves unless they are idiots, but you can rally fellow villagers, or manipulate them. I did not say that thread discussion was meaningless as a way to convince other players to follow you, but rather only that wolfpacks will not out themselves in the thread through talking unless they are morons.
Banning village discussion would destroy the game.
That's a stupid decision.
