Shaytana (1) - I do hear you... laptop screens are the worst. I have been working on a book on this thing and unfortunately my eyes feel like they get worse every day, hah. For now, I'll let you get back to your regularly scheduled workings. :)

Sleight of Hand - Hugin or Munin? ;P

Shaytana (2) - Wow, Arianism was much more successful in this timeline. I like how the Cathars' will have quite a struggle ahead of them. :) A few thoughts; having Brettish powers pushing into Normandy might be interesting. Are the Saxons in Wessex this timeline unconverted pagans? The Unctionist/Semi-Pelagian/Solar Christian divide is real nice, and although you expressed some reserve, it should lend itself well to the game. And please do add Frisians, it feels odd not having them in vanilla; sort of like the Norn culture or the huge gap where various statelets should be in west Africa (if memory serves, Ghana should be strong but weakening until the Sosso seize control). It's too bad some areas have had to be merged in the Baltic, but I trust your judgement... And you can always break them back into small states again later if need be. ;) Let me sleep first, then I will see if I can recall any key families from the area. You may have to manufacture some, or edit smaller families into positions of power.

Who are the Normans in this scenario: descendants of Vikings or somethingelse entirely?
Also, really looking forward to this mod and being able to play the disparate Germanic communities.

Normans =similar to our reality in most ways...with some minor differences I will detail later.

Wessex is pagan yes. Adding Frisians will most likely be done in 0.1b-d or thereabouts. As a rule I want to continue to add some more cultures as I go. :cool:

Sadly as I said I am VERY busy with RL till Monday, so not sure if I will post any pics till then... we shall see. Regardless of what happens till Monday, 90% of the map is done to 0.1a level -nowhere near perfect but good enough-...baring some minor tweaks and corrections it's in decent shape.

I am very confident I will release the initial setup 0.1a version next week - provided nothing unexpected happens I'd say the likelyhood of release for that version sometime next week is 90%.

I also want to add some dynasties to this region - if you have any Baltic area dynastic suggestions please post them here. I'm actually currently interested in dynasties for the region stretching from Holstein to Finland + the Polish area.

What's happening in Pomerania? Are there any Christians in Northern Germany or is it all still pagan? Pommern (especially east of the Oder) was historically very hard to subdue and was a stronghold of Slavic paganism (and pirates!). Are there any Luticians, Rani, or Rugii in the area, or Svetovid worshipers?

The mod looks great and I look forward to more updates. Good work!

That's great news and I look forward to it.

That area is pagan. As seen in my provisional new cultures and religions list there's many new cultures in there quite a lot pertaining to Slavic areas... As a theoretical rule though if I couldn't logically give a culture a minimum of 4-5 provinces I did not implement it for 0.1a...so minor minor tribes do not and might not have their own cultures anytime soon sadly. There's also many new deities including Svetovid. He is going to be worshiped in Rugen yes(and elsewhere).

Shaytana, I'm not sure what your current release schedule is but remember 1.06 is coming Tuesday, which will likely have some major changes. I presume you're going to hold off until then before releasing your new mod?

(Just a suggestion, or you may have to tweak a load of stuff and then release a second version a couple of days after...)

Ooooh... Thanks for the info, I didn't realize it was coming on Tuesday... GAH... Well then I guess I might have to see what 1.06 does first... I've been too busy to read everything about the new patch... in anycase I still hope to release next week...unless 1.06 will somehow manage to slow me down considerably...

The raven of knowledge knows all.

Maybe I should implement a new Norse Religion... Ravenism... Huginn and Muninn would make for proper deities for modders after all. They're both perching on my shoulders when I mod!

I have to go soon sadly and development will be kaput for today... I want to ask something though before I go, maybe I hear some good suggestions:

I've made Jomsvikings a playable titular kingdom(for now) - I want them to be a viable player controlled faction in the long run if you overcome their initial starting setup. They are currently set up in Stettin - Wolin being their capital (I have to rename to Jomsborg obviously). I want them to be an ultra hardcore faction to play...1 province with a powerful high quality army but surrounded by many enemies on all sides. I am thinking of giving them their own brand of Norse paganism to set them apart even more... do you think that's a good idea - and if so what should it be called? (I have some ideas but unsure on them - they're obviously related to war hehe) Any other suggestions related to Jomsvikings are welcome.

What do you think of "Brotherhood of Tyr" or "Gungnir bearers" as Jomsvikings religion name?

I kind of like the Gungnir bearer idea - if only I knew how that sounded in old norse... I was thinking "war gods" in old norse as their religion - I think it's something like: ófriðrtívar which sounds kind of nice.

Gungnir is the proper name of Odin's spear, we have to know how "bearer" is translated in Old Norse. I think that Nuril, the modder of Terra Normannorum, surely know how it was spelled, try ask him :)

Just for fun I've played with an automatic translator from Italian to Swedish of the name that I've suggested, and it translated like this: "Bärare av Gungner"

Yep, we'll see... I haven't had time to decide on this one. It's not a major issue atm, plenty of time to get it right in the future hehe.

Patch 1.06 scares me a bit...I'm hoping it won't cause a delay...

Ah I forgot about something: while working on the new buildings system (it won't make it into 0.1a) I noticed that even though you set a technology as a requirement in the buildings file - you also have to edit the technologies file?

So you'd have to add the new building here as well (for example):

TECH_CASTLE_CONSTRUCTION = { #castle buildings
1 = {
add_building = ca_militia_barracks_3
add_building = ca_barracks_4
add_building = ca_roman_profhi_1

}

Norway sneak peak:

-Kingdom of Agder - for those who want to make Norway Catholic...(why? :cool:)
-Raumariki - Norse Christians...Odin-Christ has redeemed them! Who needs the Pope anyway?
-Hordaland and Lade = Norse Pagans. For those who want to build a proper Viking empire and terrorize all they survey.
-in the North you can see a tiny fragment of Halogaland - the cult of Ragnarok holds sway there - beware! Winter is coming! ;)

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooooooo! WHY ARE THERE NO MØREJARL!!!!!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

Other then that I like the Raumariki since I like the idea of mixing local culture with Christianity.... which is why I like Celtic Christian too.

Balance and setup reasons = sadly no Møre.

No, I need to rename 9330390393039 things, :sad: I'll listen to feedback on that once I release 0.1a... there's so much stuff to rename i think I might start a "rename stuff and send me the file" project hehe...all those baronies wah. :sad:
