-On ERE: I'm going to nerf their initial troop capacity and make the Doux vassals more prone to rebellion...and something else looking into it now.
-On Gurzil: I gave them a Gurzil warrior cult for now... They're still in trouble but it's a tad better.

Ok, I'm falling asleep and not being productive so I'll just upload this version as is in a couple minutes... Balancing ERE properly is going to have to wait.

I've uploaded the new version. Note that the buildings implemented are not balanced. Consider their effects placeholder. ;)

So I played until 1085 I haven't experienced any bug, aside of the religious wars one :) .
You should also power up a little SPQR ;) .

There are some bugs in 1.06 I think Paradox is hotfixing it tomorrow? Not sure, that's what I heard.

SPQR is meant to be HARD. Consider it to be in a similar situation the Byzantines were in the 1450s. I might do something about it though.

Yay!

But on balancing ERE, they always move north because of the holy war possiblities, but maybe if you had Bulgaria and Epuris allied? A strong northern bloc to halt ERE expansion, at least northern expansion

Yes, I noticed they always(?) declare holy war on Epirus first and win by default... An alliance might work, going to look into that option too.

I'm waiting on Paradox hotfix, then will most likely look into casus belli... Need to rework Holy Wars for one.

I notice that in 0.086 Sweden, The Shiia Caliphate (Fatimids) and Wasconia seem to be the overpowered culprits. (as usual -I think those 3 have been overpowered/overachieving since day 1) They're next in for a nerf I think. The ERE has been reduced to Constantinople alone somehow in the observe game I'm looking at atm. Maybe I gave them too much of the nerfbat!

Please tell me if you think some faction is overpowered or overachieving constantly. I don't want to see the same outcomes all the time so I will look into it.

Is the 1082 Problem fixed yet? In my experiance the Persians, ERE, a random frankish noble and a few German / Polish nobles tend to expand at the start, britain collapses into anarchy and italy gets taken over by a catholic nation on games that don't CTD at 1082.

No idea on the 1082 front...on observe it never crashes...I fixed some bugs so maybe I fixed that one too...I hope so at least. I seriously don't understand why 1082 would make the game crash - there's nothing coded for that year in the game surely?

In this current build on observe atm in 1135, ERE are 1 province, the Sassanids have been conquered. The biggest blob ever is Sweden...and I mean EVER. Not sure what the AI is doing but it's dominating way too much.

EDIT: Oh and the Svafrlaming dinasty formed Gardariki... hahahahaha. By Oddin that is priceless!

In the 1050s now...
I need to add York to my observe list... they overachieve again. England is split in half between them and Wessex (pagans ahoy)... the problem is they own all of Northern France (including Normandy).
2 massive blobs in Persia area... Kingdom of Media under the Parmenions vs Sindhia.
2 massive blobs in the North ->Sweden vs Gardariki.
ERE went from 1 province to conquering the Greece area...Constantinople is OP.
Massive Fatimid blob ate up way too much of East Africa...
but my no.1 WTF is Prussia...Their borders look like their 1815 ones pretty much...it's uncanny. :O

I'm at 1103 right now, now CTD or anything bad, everyting is ok!

On balancing, Bulgaria has become a monster in the north and ERE has been making land grabs at random locations around the black sea, very annoying and ugly to look at. The Fatimids in my game have been destroyed and I did noting to them, lost on their own. England is ugly beyond belief, Holland invaded to took random provinces along the east coast of Britian and the northern Scottish pagans ignored their neighbors and took Wessex. Carthage has ignored its borders and invaded every duchy not next to it. Also none of the Catholics seem very active at all, I know there isn't a lot of them, but they don't seem to holy War like their pagan neighbors and they just let them stomp over them, at least until the Holy Orders come into play, but by then, there are hardly any left! All in all, the map is very ugly in independent realm mode!

I still love it though, and my Ptolemies are posed to take Egypt back!

Very strange, after loading any save game, any character, at any date, I CTD after 1 day passing. Trying to figure out why, is anyone else having this problem?

Hmmmmm. In my observe games by the 1160s there's a lot of consolidation going on. Catholics do seem to be wiped out early on in the periphery, but they tend to retain a blob to the South and can rebound from there.

On that loading issue...I've got a savegame from 1243 (observe game) I think so something specific must be happening. I'm hoping that Paradox's hotfix and my continous fixing/reworking of stuff eventually solves these issues... I've even taken to correcting stuff the validator reports from the vanilla files sigh.

EDIT: I've tried to see if my various savegames from observe load and work after 1 day. 6 different savegames past 1100 load and don't crash after 1 day, so not sure what went wrong for you. I'm not sure what player action might cause the issue.

ON BUILDINGS SYSTEM: (given that reworking this is a priority because I'm waiting on Paradox hotfix to work on other stuff)

I want feedback on this concept please:
I am thinking of having 4 troop building lines +stuff like this: (keep in mind these tie into other prereqs like military policy etc)
1. the regional center buidlings - basically building on the vanilla troop buildings - they represent the troops raised via the region center. These should provide the lowest amount of troops. The first tier of troops you can make. (the castle, city, temple holding stuff you have in vanilla)
2. regional levy buildings - cheap and more emphasys on crap troops - a prereq for the professional stuff.
3. professional units buildings and professional units training buildings.
4. elite units buildings - thinking of tying this to ruler or provincial culture.
5. Doctrine/Specialization buildings - buildings that provide bonuses to certain troop types - also thinking of tying this into culture - so Romans would get heavy infantry doctrine stuff while Altaics horse archers etc.

EDIT: I am thinking that all professional units and elite units should be available only to castles (military regions). In a region with an economic center (city) I'm thinking of only having heavy infantry and pikemen professionals while for temple regions light infantry and light cavalry...(to simulate religious troops like ghazi etc)

On save game issue, very annoying because I started another game and its saves are fine, it's just my one Ptolemy save, and its former autosaves. I guess it's resolved, I hope the hotfix saves my save. I'll live...

On the building, I like the concept, and as a player I have to decide if I want a province to be economically focused or militarily focused, it forces me to think ahead, and it should also make cultures have their strengths and weakness and makes the mod a little more interesting. I'm wondering if you'll keep in the various cult-buildings for the different religions however, because in my opinion they seem overpowered in this mod, because there are so many pagans to start out with.

I will keep military cult buildings for the warrior religions. Ghazi Islam should get ghazis, Jomsvikings worshiping war gods should get their raven banner plunderers etc. Having a ghazi islam neighbour or a mithraic one should mean something. (mithraic pockets survived this long specifically because they're full on militarists - think an army with a state types ;)) The thing is atm they are not balanced and I haven't given other religions their own stuff - for example I want Ilm Islam to get tech research buildings, neoplatonists cultural flexibility etc...it's going to be a long time till I get religious buildings implemented or balanced though.

I'm also going to most likely add another building line - Military Tradition - most likely going to tie this into provincial culture - so a hellenistic province would have a military tradition that improves their pikemen etc.

I'm making great progress on the military buildings part... I will most likely have 99% of them included in tonight's update. The one thing I still need to think about is how to group cultures for the Military Tradition buildings and what they should give.

So Shaytana i had this idea for an event/decision to give some flavor for the Greaco-Roman religions. Basicly the requirements would be that it's the month of march and that the country is at war. The decision itself is a rite to invoke the favor of Mars, the god of war. The event that will pop up will have two possibilities, each with a 50% chance of sucess. One of them will give the country's soldiers a moral boost, not too overpowered but significant enough to make a small difference. The other will be an omen invoking a negative effect.

I could write the event easily and hand you the files if you want? :)

@Cainrae

Write ahead and send it to me. I will try to implement it if you get it done. Any events you want to write I'll be more than happy to implement given I'm a long way from getting there myself.

@Aetherius

Probably not. You can try it but if you really want to continue a save I would not.

this definitely looks like a mod to watch. With all the new religions introduced are you going to do an overhaul of them all and the ones that hasn't been dealt with in vanilla so they become more fun to play I.e. have religious heads and decisions + events just like the first two already implemented in vanilla?

I will slowly overhaul everything... problem is getting there takes time - and events are way down my list atm. I will also prioritize stuff and give more flavor to particular areas first. In the future when I get the content in I will make a list of "recommended to play". If anyone wants to help and submit events or something else I can integrate in the mod I will gladly take them in (might tweak them though). Anything that fits from interface graphics to flavor text events! Making everything myself takes aeons hehe.

I'm currently thinking about how to group cultures under Military Traditions. So far I'm thinking this way:

Any feedback? Tell me if you think a particular culture should be under another group and why. I'm also thinking maybe go a bit off the rails and adding a couple more cultures to the underrepresented traditions such as archers...maybe put Nabateans there.

Ι agree about Nabateans but in my opinion Light cavalry would be a better chocice for Greeks as it is seen according to the historians and please make everything possible to implement some navy elements , this would be also a nice additon :eek:o:p.I would like to help more but i am afraid that i can not at this period

I am thinking maybe switch to a different style of traditions. Something like this Heavy Cavalry - Horse Archer Tradition -> so the first would be the better aspect of the military tradition with the 2nd being the secondary. So Persians would be Heavy Cav - Horse Archer, while Saka for example would be Horse Archer - Heavy Cav, etc.

sounds good.
