part 19-civil war part 2
The war continues and on the 2nd of June 1911 our armies suffer 2 small but humiliating defeats to the large Greek armies. When news reaches the government they finally listen to the call from the army and mobilize the people of northern Italy and begin organizing the troops but it will be weeks if not months before they reach the front line.
After the defeats at sisak and Fiume the Greeks started to occupy pola, Fiume and karlovac. On the 29th of july the 13th army under Francesco scammacca is ordered to retake karlovac and then advance to capture Fiume in an attempt to surround a Greek army in pola.
By august Francesco scammacca had still not defeated the Greek army at karlovac and the Greek army that was in pola has attacked our army in Fiume. In the battle of karlovac the Greek army of 120,000 men outnumber our army by 33,000 men. Now Carlo chigi is advancing south to aid our army at karlovac with the first of the mobilized armies.
On the 27th of august the battle of Fiume comes to an end in a Italian victory when the Greeks retreat to senj.
As the battle of karlovac goes on some of our army begins re occupying areas of Croatia. But on the 14th of December Giovanni chigi successfully defeats the Greeks at karlovac while inflicting over 60,000 casualties on them.
After the battle half of the force that fought at karlovac are sent to pursue the Greek army into senj while the other half re gain their fighting strength.
We continue to pursue the retreating Greek army through senj and zadar.
On the 26th of June 1912 we begin to occupy most of Bosnia and in the process we surround a Greek army in bihac.
By the 5th of September the Greeks have broken out of bihac and retreated into senj. The Greek army attacks our forces in foca.
The battle of foca ends on the 13th of January 1913 before we could close the novi pazari pocket.
As April starts we begin occupying Albania and southern Serbia and we defeat the Greeks at the battle of Pristina while suffering 13,000 casualties.
On the 20th of April we move our troops to occupy Edessa to cut the Greek army off from the main force and we attack the Greeks in Macedonia.
In June the battle of Salonika that started in April comes to an end in an Italian victory. The Greek situation has become bleak as our forces start to occupy Bulgaria and northern Greece.
On the 25th of December we launch a sea born invasion of Khalkis. Our exhausted army also reaches the outskirts of Athens one of the 2 most important Greek cities and the Greek capital.
Victory is near as our forces reach the outskirts of Istanbul the same day we reach Athens. The high command decides to wait until the occupation of kirkareli is finished before we attack Athens or Istanbul.
After a 3 month long battle, 22000 Italian casualties and 6000 Greek casualties Athens finally falls to our troops.
After 5 months, 31000 Italian casualties and 19,000 Greek casualties Istanbul finally falls and the war comes to an end.
3 days after the fall of Istanbul the civil war comes to an official end on the 15th of May 1914 and out empire is once again united. After thousands of Italian, Greek, Bulgarian, Albanian and Bosnian deaths both sides of the empire are ready for peace and all of the minorities in the Balkans are given equal rights to that of Italians. What will come next we do not know.
