Ok, finished reading. In order of preference:

1. Jakarta (Australia)
2. Jamtland
3. Burgundy
4. Colombia (Spanish Americas/Mexico I assume? as opposed to the Brazil/Venezuela nation which is the Moroccan colony?)

Colombia is the Spanish Americas, based out of Mexico, yes. Its internal divisions are visible on the map, though you might be forced to zoom in to see them.
I think it is obvious from where the idea of Colombia comes. ;)

((Can we change flags and write a back story explaining how/why we became both isolationist and democratic? ))

Sure. As long as it isn't physically impossible (say, bananas invade and went bananas. Such would be a fruitless endeavour anyways, but you know...).

They killed Japan!!! You bastards!!!!

Blame whoever came up with the idea of a divided Japan.

Confederation of Wyoming (0 A.E.)

500px-Pine_Ridge_Flag.svg.png

Name: Confederation of Wyoming
Head of the United Tribal Council of Chiefs: Crazy Horse
Head of The Elected Senate of Settler Representatives: John Smith
Type of Government: Confederation. With one Elected and one Unelected Houses.
National Language: English /All Native Languages
National Religion: None
Population: 6,000,000 or so.
Motto: None
National Anthem: None
Capital: Seattle/ The Black Hills area
Largest City: Seattle

Domestic

Internal Events:
- As a result of difficult negotiations a telephone line is now being run to the United Indian Council of Chiefs in the Black hills from the Elected Senate of Settler representatives to allow the process of making and rejecting bills by both sides much more efficient. Also relegating the Blimp to organizing communication with Major Indian centers.
-The Settler Militia forces have for the first time been given an increase in Funding allowing the purchase of rifles for a larger section of the force and the buying of a second 19th century cannon.
-Elections are about to be held for the Elected Senate of Settler representatives with the Radical parties expecting to suffer a major defeat as a result of 5 years of stalemate as a result of the opposing positions of the two houses.
- The border between settler regions and Indian regions has been moved a distance east after long negotiations led by the Leader of the Centrist Party "Why can't we all just get along" boosting the parties standing before the upcoming elections and also helping with the Settler overcrowding issues.

Internal Problems:
Almost Impossible to get any legislation through on issues that the Indians and Settlers disagree on.
The Indian regions are very poorly developed.
Settlers are worried about reliance for defense on Indian warriors who are based a long way away from the Major Population centers
The Settler representatives are dominated by Radicals with the largest group being the Left wing Settler People's Party in comparison to the Conservative Indian chiefs creating an increasing split between Settler and Native sections of the country.
Settler regions are becoming increasingly over populated

Economic Status:
-Meh (Example)
The Interior regions are poor dominated by Indians and the Occasional Settler who has been allowed to stay by the Indians. Most wealth is concentrated on the Coast.

Military

Army:
  • Total Strength: 25,000
    20,000 Irregular Indian scouts
    5,000 Settler Militias
  • 60,000 Indian reserves, 100,000 Settler Reserves (Demobilized)
Navy:
-1 Cruiser
-4 Destroyers
-Several dozen Indian rafts on the rivers.
Airforce:
-One Blimp used to transport proposed bills to the United Indian Tribal council for consideration

Alliances, Agreements, Pacts, and Trade:

Diplomacy:

OCC: Fear the Indian-Settler Alliance

GM Note: Me not making comments on initial stats mean that I don't find any errors huge enough to make a fuzz over.
EDIT: Also, just to clear up confusion: The game has been on since the first stats were posted. Everyone that has posted up their initial stats are able to interact with the world, do IC, and stuff.

Ooc: I'm probably overshooting what's reasonable population wise, that link says IRL Hawaii had only around 250,000 residents. I'm assuming I also get some of the other polynesian islands, a faster demographic rebound from initial waves of disease, and of course lots of immigrants.

Aupuni Mōʻī o Hawaiʻi (Kingdom of Hawaii - 0 AE

Flag_Kingdom_of_Hawaii.PNG

Name: Kingdom of Hawaii
Head of State: Queen Liliʻuokalani
Head of Government: Prime Minister Joseph Nāwahī (National Liberal Party)
Type of Government: Constitutional Monarchy
Official Language: Hawaiian, English
Population:1,000,000
Motto:Ua Mau ke Ea o ka 'Āina i ka Pono
National Anthem: Hawaiʻi Ponoʻī
Capital: Honolulu
Largest City: Honolulu

Domestic Events
Internal Problems:
-Nationalist movement: Concerned by "dilution" of Hawaiian culture due to immigrants (Euro-American and Japanese) and modern innovations, sometimes turns ugly
-Labor unrest: Several major efforts to unionize agricultural workers failed due to infighting between unions along ethnic lines, but the issue remains
-Open Succession: The Queen is 76 and has no biological children, but several Hānai (ritually adopted children). Under the Hawaiian constitution, this situation will be resolved with an election on her death

Economic Status:
Strong modern economy based on finance and trade. Lack of domestic heavy metals prevented much domestic heavy industry, especially steel, and forced a reliance on imports. Lack of coal led to early adoption of geothermal power for electricity.
If new sources of imported goods can't be found, economy likely to suffer.
Major industries: banking, insurance, agriculture (fruit, sugar, coffee), fishing
A vibrant media scene includes several radio stations and a burgening film industry
Passenger airship travel is a promising, but undeveloped, emerging industry.

Military
Army: Smallish, professional, subordinate to the fleet. Essentially a marine corps
Navy: 1 Dreadnaught, 4 armored cruisers, several destroyers and frigates, 1 experimental aricraft carrier
Air Force: 1 squadron early torpedo bombers, larger force of reconnaisance seaplanes, 3 military airships
Current Deals:
Diplomacy:

Destiny

Ever since the creation of the Tyranny, it has been our mission to bring civilization and light to the natives of Africa, to show them the light of tyranny, the light that brings advance to this earth. It is out duty, and our destiny, to continue this holy mission, and today, the Tyrant has agreed with his Chancellor, Paul von Lettow-Vorbeck on the future of the Tyranny.
By encouraging more and more natives to join the army and teaching them the way of civilized men, serving under the Tyrant, we can finally bring civilization to those beyond our borders and we must seek to do so, by pushing onwards towards the Niger River.

The goals of the 10 years plan
By the usage of modern machinery, and the pinnacles of modern science, we can chart this land quickly, laying down railroads and building up an administration in this uncharted lands, according to the plan of the Tyrant, in about 10 years. The Tyrant has made his will clear, there is naught but we can not do, as long as we stand united behind the will of our mighty leader.

- Michael Palakopolus, Speaker of the Government

OOC: Deaghaidh, I dunno about a Hawai'ian Dreadnought...would be more of a burden than a benefit to Hawai'i. Just saying. Big, unwieldy, expensive. However, it's all okay if you want one, just noting that it's impractical. :p

Well I had the general idea of trying to create a powerfull but small navy, which I assumed had to include some kind of dreadnought. Could you be a naval power in 1914 without one?

I suppose we could scale it down to a sort of pocket battleship.

OOC: I know, Dreadnought race and all (which is OTL, so not really relevant), but I was just pointing out that that doesn't make them any more practical than they were IOTL. ;)
