as a default while playing rest your fingers on the qwerty keys for map control:

Hit Q to see the pretty terrain map mode
Hit W to see the most useful political map mode
Hit E to see trade map mode (Set up your trade strategy!)
Hit R to see diplomatic map mode
Hit T to see the religious situation (You should keep those missionaries working whenever you are ready to handle rebellions!)

With armies:
D to detach a siege contingent
S to split the army in half
G to combine all selected armies

Super Convenient Production:
V to build troops and ships
B to build province upgrades

These are the ones I find myself using every 5 seconds^ :)

I knew about the map ones, but not the army ones. Thanks!

Not a hotkey, but useful nonetheless. You can click the small unit icons in the unit view to separate out all units of that type. For example selecting all transports ships or light ships from a merged fleet.

Also the idea of right-clicking to separate just half of the units of that type is very convenient. I like that a lot.

Can I just suggest there be a 'select all visible land units' and 'select all visible sea units' button? It can get cumbersome to manually select, for instance, all the fleets dotting Greece and Anatolia, since if your selection box includes a land unit, it defaults to them.

Why? It's closer and bigger than the other keys...

Old keyboards. Also, the space bar is the noisiest key. :)

I dunno really, I got used to it because one of my old keyboards had a busted space bar, it used to type two spaces in sequence instead of one sometimes. And since we're talking hotkeys here... well, not so many people know about Pause/Break, I guess. :)

First select one naval unit, then SHIFT-select all the other naval units. If you have one naval unit selected already it will not default to selecting land units.

z,x,c,v

respectively (in order as they are listed on screen) to select all of a certain type of unit depending on if you have navy or army selected

Z for example is all your heavy ships or infantry .. X your light ships and cav

Hotkeys are well setup for the most party if you rest you fingers along "qwerty"

§ for commands :p

Also, while viewing your government, you can also use qwerty to switch between different governing windows.
And L is ledger still.

F12 takes screenies, F11 should take maps or something like that. Maybe shift+F11 takes map of your own Empire, need to check that one...

Thanks to PDS for finally starting to include proper shortcuts in their games. :)

Now, we only need an easy way to tweak them.

f for the province search window to find that one province in your empire that just had an event/mission.
