Well, UK historically had a queen at this time, Queen Victoria. I was actually planning to be her, but all pictures of her were boring, and none were Steampunky.

By definition everything to do with Victoria is Steampunky.

I suppose a wave of disease swept Europe, affecting only those with a specific gene in their Y chromosome. Europe's hilariously inbred royalty was thus stripped of all their males.

Re: the new world, should we assume that the Spanish colonies went the way they did historically, and that Brazil is Independent under an Emperor named Pedro?

Name: William J. Lowther

Age: 45

Nationality: British!

Date and Place of Birth: 23rd of October 1805, Paris.

Position in the Government: Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Biography: Born of a french family, he loathed his origins and country and deeply admired the British Empire. At the age of 16, he traveled to Britain and got a fake identity. He joined the army and served the state faithfully and well, ascending through the ranks before deciding to take up a political career.(Using many favors from his important and influential army connections to aid him)

An innovative lover of history, and admirer of sciences, he was also a Christian apologist. He was however also to some degree racist, not openly, but he believed the European(and in particular north and west European) people to be a lot more trustworthy, progressive and intelligent then people from other parts of the world.

He also has a natural hate for the Ottomans.
A bit too emotional for his own good, especially as a foreign minister, his pure intelligence and silver tongue were enough to make him well deserve his spot.

P.S: Based slightly on me.
P.P.S: Not married and no children. Let's hope that's smthng we'll differ in.
P.P.P.S: Sorry for the terribly out-of-era picture. That's the guy in my sig, who was also part of the inspiration for the character

Name: Fredrick Oldenburg VIII, løvehjerte

Nationality: Danish

Date of Birth: January 24, 1806

Position: King of Denmark

Bio: Fredrick was born to Frederick VI, who had to cede his title of king of Denmark and Norway in 1808, he was quite down the line of secession however, and was likely not to become king. Knowing this, Fredrick still however trained and fought in any wars he could. He fought in the Napoleonic Wars, and gained Knighthood in the Order of the Golden Fleece. He became somewhat of hero among his younger family members, and was often sought after for advice..

However, when tragedy struck the house of Oldenburg when Fredrick VII died, it was found he had no legitimate heirs. He had some female sisters, but under Salic Law the Kingdom of Denmark was still agnatic, so a council was convened and were elected to determine the next king. After searching for valid claims, they finally chose that Fredrick was the one with the most valid claim. He had sons, and daughters, so he was easily accepted as the next king. He became Fredrick VIII thereafter, and his official title was : By the Grace of God, King of Denmark, Grand Duke of Oldenburg, duke of Schleswig, Holstein, Stormarn and Dithmarschen, Count of Oldenburg and Delmenhorst, Fredrick the VII

He believe the Kiel Treaty was un-rightful, and seeing that Norway is in a fit of distress and that Sweden seems to not have given up, he will stake his claim to the land, and that is his by rights.

I may be said to be slightly racist but I was a never accused of being a sexist.
If that lady's got the skills, than I, William Lowther, will vouch for her in front of Her Majesty and the parliement.
((Could you join the IRC, I would like to talk to my Foreign Minister, as I am sure Her Majesty would))

((In the UK today, women are still not allowed to serve in roles "whose primary duty is to close with and kill the enemy." The first women's auxiliary corps was not founded until 1917; over six decades after this starting date. Women were not recognised as a permanent part of the British armed forces until 1949; nearly a century after this starting date. If such an absurdity as a female Chief of the Imperial General Staff in 1850 is allowed I regret to say I'll be resigning from the game.))

((As blunt as Ab is, he is right. I will not allow any further women characters unless they are a monarch, and I will be very reluctant and mad at you if you make a new female monarch.))

((I just figured that things might be different in a steam punk alternative history scenario. I thought the game looked like it was too full of older, rather stuffy looking men (although I understand that that is who ran countries during this period in RL history). If it's going to be a problem for everyone, I don't have to play that character.

EDIT: What Fingon says goes. I'd still like to play though. I'll change my character to make him a male.))

((So...

Queen of Great Britain - moonlights as a fashion model
Queen of Sweden
Empress of France-Spain
Queen of Prussia - moonlights as a porn star

All of whom are regnant, and none of whom are above the age of 25. The Queen of Great Britain cannot legally drink. In addition to that the King of Greece is handsome enough to be a model.

...am I the only one seeing a problem? This goes for kings as well as queens.))

I dont know about the others but i was the forst to post sooo if its a problem force them to change to male (though i dont see any problem )

(( Whats with all the female monarchs? I mean it gives Konstantin plenty of choices for wives :D, but still I'm just asking?))

I blame the gender imbalance in steam punk images on line. All the photographers prefer sexy female models in corsets and such.

I think a lot of us prefer that...

((Hopefully there's no problems with a relatively young Chief of General Staff (41), and I apologize for the rather unoriginal picture choice.))

Name: Blaine Bishop
Age: 41
Nationality: Scottish (British)
Date and Place of Birth: October 12th, 1809, Glasgow
Position in the Government: British Chief of General Staff
Biography: Blaine was born to a Scottish father and an English mother in Glasgow. His father was a loyal army captain in the British Royal Army, and Blaine grew up dreaming of following in his father's foot steps. His desire to do so only increased when his father was killed in a border skirmish in Normandy in 1823. A year later, in 1824, Blaine and his mother moved to London, where her family lived. At the age of 16, Blaine enlisted in the Royal Army. To his own great surprise, he found that he was skilled at command. He could empathize well with other soldiers and was a good judge of what individuals were capable of. He rose rapidly through the ranks of the army, becoming a general at the startling age of 33. Five years later, he was appointed Chief of General Staff by the Earl of Egremont when the previous Chief of General Staff was killed in a training accident. Blaine was nervous about his lofty position considering his relatively young age, but he has performed it admirably in the last three years. Time will tell, however, if he can handle an actual war, something he has yet to see as Chief of General Staff.
