Inclined to support it because I got a card and was put on the team.

Oooh, a spotlight! What does this nice little thigmajig do, exactly? ;-)
*fiddles with the switch a bit.*

Ooh, nice! *points the beam of light directly into Tonka's eyes*
This may come in handy ..
(( I've read the rules, don't worry .. ))

Speaking of reading the rules: Do the spies know each other? The rules don't mention it..

Regarding the cards: Anyone opposed to me using that spotlight on the first mission?
Odds are it will really just send the spies into hiding, but since that means we have a good chance to get a mission under our belts I'm actually kinda fine with that .. ;-)

Yes they do, look under Game Setup:

Each agent of SMERSH will secretly be given the name of one other double agent.

Oh. Right. Didn't see that - was looking in the other sections for it. Thanks.

Investigate? Pfft, in our division the S.A.P. is to get rid of such people. He either was bad enough to get caught, or bad enough to get bought. Queen has no need for such agents.
As for the Spotlight, keep that gadget safely locked, big man. We will need it tomorrow.

As for the spotlight thingy - even though it is by definition an inferior gadget as it does not contain any weapons or explosives - I don't want people to hang on to it too long. A potential saboteur should not be able to get away with not using it without any repercussions from the group.

Not too long, yes, but not now. I believe the perfect time for it is Mission 2.

Putting a spotlight on someone in a three-person team means that if it's sabotaged there are only two options for who the actual saboteur might be.
(And since I'm on it, that means that I will know *exactly* who the saboteur is. That may not be a big deal to you, but I really like having solid information ..)
Putting it on someone in a four-person team loses that advantage, and because of that the odds that it will force the spies to support are a lot bigger with 3 people.

I know we might get a bunch of plot cards in the next round that may or may not help us propose a good team for the second mission that has multiple spotlights or KACEOY cards active, but honestly, given how this game tends to flow I'm not holding my breath for it.

So I'm going to go ahead and do it anyway.

## If this team is accepted, play ITS on Tonka

I was considering putting in a default order to always put it on whomever proposes the team this round, but really .. if I start doing that spy leaders will just put whomever their known spy friends are on the team and have them sabotage, instead, I reckon. So I'm going to try and be a bit unpredictable about this :p

Votes tallied:

APPROVE: tonkatoy5, Cliges, jpr123
REJECT: aedan777, tamius23, randakar, gliomarto, Trinitrotoluen

Proposal is rejected 5 votes to 3.

Next proposal will be made by Trinitrotoluen.

OK, so randakar rejected this team despite having been chosen while jpr approved after a post that it might make more sense to reject it. Hmm....

Very well, I propose

TNT
gliomarto
randakar
.

Both managed to post coherent arguments which probably means they are evil saboteurs. :p Nevertheless, I am curious to see what happens.

As I said in my post, it was the best team we could have hoped for with 3 players spread out and Randy able to tell us who any saboteur was. So if it was sabotaged we would know there was 1 spy in either Randy or whoever he accuses. I thought accepting it might at least keep people on their toes. Not that I'm bothered by it being rejected.

As for this current proposal: it seems worse than the one we just rejected.

Jpr is the surprise vote, really.
Personally I simply decided that rejecting a few teams is good for the game.

And you're all the final three reject votes! That could portend something. Or not.

I'm going to make a little rule clarification: use of the Opinion Influencer needs to be declared publically when making a vote. And yes, Cliges used his card.

Note that just like a vote can be changed, so can the card be retracted. But again, that needs to be stated publically.
