Technically speaking PDS developes the games (and engines). PI is just the Publisher.
And practically speaking they are the same. Let's drop the technicalities shall we? :glare:

Fair enough, I'm sure PDS will sure hire you to work on their Clausewitz 3.
Limitations are always self imposed on any piece of work you take on. There is no "perfect" engine, and if you think there is then you're pretty much living below a rock.
They're not the same. If you don't make the distinction, then some people will think that all PI games are developed by Johan and his crew.
We are already working on Clausewitz 3. In fact, we have a dedicated programmer who is in charge of making the engine faster, better and more beautiful![]()
Care to enlighten me on what will make it more "beautiful"?
Seems a bit counterintuitive that you'd casually refer to both of them as 'Paradox'... ever considered a rebrand of one or the other?Exactly. We are trying to separate Paradox Development Studio, we who work with grand strategy games, and Paradox Interactive, who work with publishing games. Please make that distinction.

What I was talking about though was replicating a 3-d space with nothing but 2d maps and fancy graphics to make it all look 3d though.Anyway, on topic, I've seen Space 4X games work just fine on a 2D map, not realistic of course, but they're games after all. Heck, I think any of the current PDS games could be used for a space setting with some really heavy modding.

Are you out of your mind?
When you go out for a stroll you yourself say that you're going to get till X place before you go back.
Even the "I'll go where the wind takes me" is self imposing a restraint. You won't end up on the moon, you might end up in any continent.
And also, personal attack? Really now...
Maybe you guys should take this to PM, I just wanted to talk about Clausewitz engine in space...When you make a product, you only have X amount of time, Y amount of money, Z tools, etc. Saying, "I'll make the best product I can make but I only have $10 million I can raise to fund it" is not a self-imposed restraint. You have limited resources.
This is why I think you have never had a job or made anything yourself. You have no idea how the real world works, apparently. Everything PDS does is controlled by market-imposed restraints. If they had more time and more money they would make something different, probably better. Clausewitz engine is not the way it is because they said "this is EXACTLY what we want to make, nothing different" but because they say "we can afford to spend this much on the engine, take that long to make it, after that we are out of time and money and must do something else."
Saying that limitations are always self-imposed in any work... completely insane, you really can't have had any job ever if you think that.

I do as well, but even more beautiful than that?![]()
Completely insane is your argument. When you yourself say that you can raise at most 10 million dollars for the engine, you have to restrain yourself to that. It IS self imposed. MANY businesses have failed IRL because of a failure to impose that self restraint.
I have no more interest in going on with this conversation as you seem fixated on aggravating me.
Back on topic, I do believe that Clausewitz can into space.
