Hello sorry to hear that but i did try that command prompt and it didnt work for me. When did your problem start then if you have all the DLCs from Steam? Has it only happened since you bought the Raja expansion then? And when the game starts up do you get the launcher that lists all your DLCs when youre on Steam let me know thanks.

Hello if you look on my main thread i have explained what is causing this error. Its a conflict caused between the DLCs youve bought from GG site and the DLCs bought from Steam that i found is causing this Runtime error report. If you look on my thread ive explained how to get round it!

Please be a bit more specific about where to look, or better yet, provide the link or at least give a description of what part of the forum you're talking about.

Hey, first post with disappointment :( Same thing happens for me.

Version of 2.04 works fine, also I closed Steam and tried to open CK2.exe without Steam. It also works fine.

When you say you opened CK2.exe without Steam, were you running 2.04 or the latest one that way? And when you say without Steam, what exactly do you mean? Offline, or something else?

The latest one was working when I tried it without Steam. I mean a completely closed Steam, not an offline one. I ran CK2.exe from Steam/Steamapps/common/Crusader Kings II as administrator, and it worked fine for me already.

Something tells me having the entire soundtrack of the game in a playlist, running in the background, is more efficient use of your memory than enabling the song DLC.

Then as a bonus you get to hear the whole soundtrack instead of just the same 4 over and over.

I'd test that theory myself but I'm busy going through a backlog of other games while I wait for a hotfix.

That's a good idea, just run the music player after the game has finished loading.

Having to either turn off DLC to get the game to run, or mess with how your PC divides it's ram are just temporary solutions. So is there an ETA on when the game is going to get patched so that people who meet the recommended specs can get the game running again with all the stuff they already bought turned on? Seems like the dev posts died down so that can only mean like one of two things.

1. They're working on the issue, not wasting time browsing the forums since they know what to do now.

or...

2. They gave up.

If it runs from outside Steam and under 2.0.4, it might be related to being subscribed to Workshop mods. Check whether you are subscribed to any and if so unsubscribe from all of them check again and report the result please.

Is there any summary of all this? I'm unsure what to do.
Try the game with NO mods or DLCs active. If that works then you may have this issue.

Workaround:

1: Open Command Prompt (it's in Accessories in Vista)

2: Paste this in: bcdedit /set increaseuserva 3072

3: Restart

4: to undo: BCDEdit /deletevalue increaseuserva

Note this will NOT help if you have 2gb or less of system memory, only loading fewer DLCs will do that.

Does this fix work with XP?

Update: Managed to get the game working with all dlc's on XP by enabling a 3GB switch.

follow the steps in this link.

I have ordered Win 7 64. My problems are solved, I can live again. :p Relax, I have been thinking of upgrading for years (from XP) and I suppose it was about time. So when my shiny new disc get here (that I plan to use for about a decade) I should be in CK2 India heaven with allll Dlc's on. Though a word for Paradox, if you don't find a way to lower the Ram req, and I have a feeling it's doubtful, you should update the requirements for CK2 so that the last remaining 32 biters don't feel misled. Though if I'm finally upgrading, it must truly mean there are very few of us left. We're a dying breed lads *sniff*. At least put in brackets (Game with all DLC's requires Windows 64bit, because it looks like it soon will!). But by all means keep making DLC's my friends, convince me to buy more ram next, my computer will thank you. ;)

Found out interesting thing. When I save on ironman (local),I quit the game then load again, clicking on "saved games" throws me Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Error. However, if I select to save ironman on steam cloud,I can load my game. But then there's another thing.Everytime autosave on ironman cloud, it automatically opens menu as if I pressed "Esc" button.
Non ironman thing - If I use select to compress my save, I get the error the next time I click on ''saved games''.If Idon't compress - everything is fine.
