Quite amused no one mentioned:

- captured equipmemt
- weapon market
- improved supply (read:fuel) system
- naval localization (there has been a lot of unrest regarding the extended feeling that the naval system could see a more particularized approach)

You have to keep in mind that only the Majors had any real political leaway because they all had sizeable armies and infrastructure to maintain big empires. I am not saying minors could make an impact, but they should never be able to do an orthodoxy WC on their own. Being a major is hard enough. As much as I expressed my love for Sweden in an entry a few weeks ago, it is just not plausible for them to do whatever and should try to limit their ambitions until the Moose cavalry has been finally completed. ;)
For now, we should focus on the Majors who haven't been adressed like Italy Japan and France who really needs some support if they want to go for their WCs. In HOI3 they were completely blindsided so it's about time they are adressed. It's not a question of money but time and prioritizing. I rest my case.

Having a unique NF-tree doesn't mean that you are able to conquer the world. It just means that the actual political options of a specific minor at that time is properly represented.
So Turkey e.g. could have a focus that lets it stay passive and keeps it out of the war (historical choice, though kinda boring ingame), another NF that gives it claims in greece (rebuild ottoman empire) and other neighbour states, and then a few to join the different factions and accomplish regional war goals (or political goals).

A DLC where advisors appear with an opinion about ideas/ diplo/ enemy tactics, etc..

It looks like you're planning to invade Poland! Would you want me to put some blitz in your krieg?

Well, If you're interested to know in what kind of DLC's I'd be interested in then it'll most likely be these in no particular order of interest:
- Politics, diplomacy and trade (more depth and/or possibilities, building mats and supply etc.).
- Espionage, covert ops and deception.
- Expanded Minors (especially the Netherlands of course ;) ).
- Extended timeline (more advanced tech etc.).
- Earlier timeline or WW1 (startdate 1910).
- Alternate history timeline(s) (what if Germany won WW1 for example).
- Fantasy/sci fi fun timelines.

Without playing it, it's hard to know for sure.

But from what I've seen-

1. More depth to Battle Planner/ Command Groups
2. "The sinews of war are infinite money." - Marcus Tullius Cicero. Major economy expansion. US Bonds. Trade
3. More fleshed out supply. Fuel in game etc
4. Time line extended as far as they can with engine.
5. Post War game. UN- colonial/liberation wars.

Between what we've been shown thus far and what I expect to be in the base games, here's what I'd personally like to see in terms of DLC
  1. Fleshed out focus trees for at least groups of nations (like a Commonwealth tree, SA minors, European Minors etc...), or for more involved/larger minors (Canada/Romania/Sweden/Spain/Brazil/Argentina/ANZAC etc)
  2. Extended ending/post-war repercussions DLC that can make the endgame interesting (I think this one is a pretty common desire among the fanbase)
  3. Expanded Conferences mechanics and the ability to carve the world into the nations/borders/flags you'd like to see post-war.
  4. An alternate world start with just a couple handfuls of super states ducking it out (e.g., like the Doomsday scenario from HOI2, always thought that was fun and interesting)
  5. An importer/converter from Vicky 3 saves ;)
  6. An exporter/converter/Empire-generator tool for Stellaris ;)
Besides those, I think I would need to play HOI4 before I can start going "You know what would be cool..."

6. An exporter/converter/Empire-generator tool for Stellaris ;)
Really? :p

It appears you are trying to bully Czechoslovakia into caving to your outrageous ultimatum. Would you like me to foment unrest in the Sudetenland?

I'm sorry, but having Clippy in-game would make whoever had him way too OP.

The minister traits on Clippy would just be out of this world . . . . think Albert Speer meets Beria meets Hans Guderian. He'd be like Stalin except this guy really is made out of steel: He literally CANNOT. BE. KILLED.

Well, PDS already has the dog going on for them!!

Maybe the national dogs can eat Clippy, killing it forever!

Guys, please keep the thread free from "Omg you don't know X Y and Z, be quiet!", "No you are wrong and stupid" and other spam.

This is an interesting topic and I too am curious to see what the community would like to see but if it derails into a thread of who's right or wrong and goes off-topic it will be locked.

OK. thank you.
but first let me get a bit off topic.

@Secret Master I laughed at that absurd tank picture for five minutes. I laughed so hard I scared the cat. thanks.

We're not brainless consumer robots, we're adults capable of making conscious, rational decisions.

I'm really more of a brainless adult capable of making consumer decisions.

I would absolutely love a "Loyal Advisor" DLC. Here's how it works; The debug dog pops up and barks at you and gives you advice on what tech or national focus to select. Basically, the AI tries to help me not be horribly awful at the game by making some suggestions. Or if your troops over here are about to get outmaneuvered while you are looking over there debug dog will bark at you to warn you. If debug dog detects you are doing really bad and are going to lose the game he'll open the console and bark at you to cheat.

@TinyWiking ok I am sorry.. as it turns out I am just off topic completely spam and have no valid suggestions. I know! wait I have one! Make Andreas Waldetoft compose an entire Opera and release it as a DLC! no really, it is a good idea. I would totally buy that, even if it was more than the smaller music DLC.

Edit: numerous mistakes, clarity.

the concept art I drew up for the alert system design actually had a clippy-like with a german stahlhelm complaining about norwegian invasions failing ;)

OT, but the left-hand clenched fist salute wasn't a Nazi salute - actually it was one used by leftist organisations (as well as a bunch of other orgs of various stripes). However, the First Order are blatantly space-Nazis.

Back on topic,

The following are obvious subjects for DLC:

1) WW1. This is a no-brainer for reasons we've already talked half to death.

2) The British Empire and Commonwealth. This is a big topic that none of the HOI games so far has really tried to address, but basically the Dominions were independent countries but stile somewhat tied to the wider British Empire in terms of armaments and decision-making, and the colonies could be better modelled than simply being national territory as well.

3) China. For reasons that have also been discussed a lot elsewhere, it would be good to have some special mechanisms (perhaps based on the colonial mechanisms discussed above?) for dealling with the warlords.

4) A Doomsday scenario (i.e., Western Allies vs. Soviets war in the immediate post-WW2 period). The one that was made for HOI2 was fun, if a bit lacking in detail and events - I'd love to see a good alternate-history WW3 scenario. The work done on this would also help better model the post-war period and real-life conflicts like Korea.

Finally, if this discussion has shown anything, it's that Paradox do not "cut out stuff to sell as DLC" as the normal accusation about DLC has it.
