Quick update - since it seems like PI will release the Clarke patch for the end of May, I will simply wait to release the next version of CANS then. I've been extremely busy this past week but should have some time on the weekend to work on what I want to work on.

I seem to have an issue with fleet names in that said fleets are always 1st, 2nd, 3rd, without any flavour and I can't seem to figure out why.

I am assuming you used the Space Roman namelist? That one currently has that bug and will be fixed in the next version.

I'd love to see West and Central African name lists.

I'm thinking of adding some too! :D (Though probably not in the next update)

VERSION 1.1.1 IS UP - DOWNLOAD ON THE STEAM WORKSHOP HERE!

Major changes are compatibility with Clarke patch, 4 new namelists and German localization, courtesy of @Ki-Koshi . As before, a manual download is available at the bottom of the first post for those who prefer that. Again, IF ANYONE WANTS TO HELP ME WITH LOCALIZATION OF NON-ENGLISH and NON-GERMAN, THAT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED, THANKS! I JUST NEED THE TRANSLATIONS FOR THE NAMES OF THE NAMELISTS AND NOT THE NAMES OBVIOUSLY.

Changelog for Version 1.1.1:

  • Added four new namelists:
    • Ancient Egyptian (Real) (Credits to @Ki-Koshi)
    • Biblical/Hebrew (Handmade)
    • Spanish (Fantasy)
    • Vietnamese (Fantasy)
  • Added proper German localization, credits to @Ki-Koshi
  • Fixed fleets using the Space Roman namelist having only a number in the fleet

Here's a couple screenshots previewing the Spanish and Vietnamese fantasy namelists:

VERSION 1.1.2 IS UP - DOWNLOAD ON THE STEAM WORKSHOP HERE!

Major changes are 10 new namelists. These include a number of completely made-up namelists with no real world inspirations, mainly 3 new namelists for Avian species (somewhat based off of the vanilla Avian namelists), as well as 2 apostrophe-heavy namelists (that're a mild parody of all those apostrophes in sci-fi and fantasy).

Changelog for Version 1.1.2:

  • Added ten new namelists:
    • Apostrophe 1 (Fantasy)
    • Apostrophe 2 (Fantasy)
    • Avian 4 (Handmade)
    • Avian 5 (Handmade)
    • Avian 6 (Handmade)
    • Daedra (TES)
    • Dwemer (TES)
    • Inuit (Fantasy)
    • Mongol (Fantasy)
    • Welsh (Fantasy)
  • Renamed a few of the namelists so they’ll fit on the screen
  • Fixed error in the Dunmer namelist that made “=” a possible ship name

Here's a couple screenshots previewing the new names:

This is great, so many new names!

You're welcome!

Hi, could you generate more names for Egyptians, I do mod on this thread, your mod came in very handy, but names are not enough?

I'm not sure I quite understand you, do you mean you're running out of names in-game? I know that if you run out of names for the spaceships and planets you start getting stuff like "USS Shipname II", "USS Shipname III", and so on, but the Egyptian namelist for spaceships should be big enough, or at least I hope so....

Thanks!

VERSION 1.1.3 IS UP - DOWNLOAD ON THE STEAM WORKSHOP HERE!

Major changes are 10 new namelists and Spanish localization, thanks to @Solarak. I've also reorganized the order the namelists are in the game so they're easier to go through.

As a side note, I've experimented a bit more with the namelists this time - some of them have more interesting naming conventions, especially the Forerunner namelist which was pretty fun to do. Also, one (Apostrophe 3) is based on a quick hackjob conlang phonology I whipped up in a few minutes (for those who know what conlanging's about). It's nice to make some use of my conlanging skills for once, so expect to see more of those in the future since I'll eventually run out of good name generators online to use.

Changelog for Version 1.1.3:

  • Added ten new namelists:
    • Apostrophe 3 (Handmade)
    • Fantasy 1 (Fantasy)
    • Fantasy 2 (Fantasy)
    • Fantasy 3 (Fantasy)
    • Forerunner (Halo)
    • Goblin 1 (Fantasy)
    • Goblin 2 (Fantasy)
    • Hunnic (Handmade)
    • Norse (Fantasy)
    • Sioux (Fantasy)
  • Added in Spanish localization, credits to @Solarak
  • Ancient Greek (Fantasy) now localized as Greek (code is unchanged)
  • Tweaked Vietnamese (Fantasy) namelist so that previously hyphenated syllables are now separated, so they resemble real Vietnamese words better
  • Reorganized namelists so they’re easier to search in the species creation menu

Here's a couple screenshots previewing the new names, namely the Hunnic and Forerunner namelists:

EDIT: Also added the changelogs to the third post for anyone who cares.

EDIT: Just realized I now have more than 50 namelists in the mod D:

Ah alright I see. Seems like the Ancient Egyptian namelist was smaller than I thought. I'll add in some new names to the next update.

You could winnow through the lists of all the ancient pharaohs and their wives and children, if you haven't already. That could probably provide a few.

Couldn't resist. :p

Anyways, I already have the "real" Ancient Egyptian list which should have some actual names; the namelist shown above is the fantasy Egyptian one, but I've more than doubled the amount of names for the next update.

Who, me? I've been known to play one or 80 hours of Stellaris in the last few weeks. :p

Yes, you! Stop right there criminal scum! I can recognize an old CFC OTer from far away!

I'd be very interested in an Iroquois and a Mongolian namelist. Or maybe even one themed after Years of Rice & Salt.

Currently I have handmade fantasy Mongolian and Hunnic namelists available, and Ieoqouis or somewhere around that part of the world is on my to-do list. For Rice and Salt stuff, were there specific cultures or regions you have in mind? I do have a number of fantasy and real namelists for the Middle East, Central Asia, and East Asia but I'll be adding more in the future.

The Years of Rice & Salt book is basically a book about the history of the world after the Black Plague wipes out Europe and the major actors are China, India, Firanja (Muslim colonists to Europe), Burmese Leage and the Haudenosaunee Federation (bunch of unified tribes east of the Rocky Mountains centering around the Iroquois) with the Haudenosaunee being the preeminent superpower of the world.

So I think a healthy mix of Chinese, Indian, Muslim, Burmese, Japanese names with a little more Iroqois and other tribes with a few smatterings of African, Incan with maybe some hybridized Chinese-Incan names. Below is a map I found that I feel best shows the modern world in the book.

Guilty as charged, your honour. You should post there more often. :p

Oh yeah, haven't been there on a while, I keep forgetting to stop by every now and then to say hi to my old friends. D:

Ah yeah I'm somewhat familiar with the setting but I wasn't sure what you meant by a namelist, so I'm guessing basically a 'united' human namelist like in vanilla that has realistic names, but one that's more appropriate for the setting? If so, I'll see what I can do.

Yes definitely something like that. I guess a version of the existing name list but without any European or American references in it and with Chinese references. I.e Earth could be renamed
Dìqiú but I suspect with the Iroqois being a world power, it would more likely be called Ohontsàke or something.
