Perhaps they gave such short notice because they wanted to make sure only those who are most interested and motivated to see the game succeed (ie those who frequently check forums and the status of the game) sign up. They want to make sure that the beta keys they hand out go to people who will actually test the game, instead of people who are merely curious and want a free game to play and not all that interested in beta testing.

Of course, with the short notice they gave, some people who may have made great beta testers were sleeping between the time for the notice went up and the registration was full. Even gamers need sleep sometimes.

To be honest, the 'first come, first serve' model meant they basically had to announced it and close it really quickly. As is, their website was crashing and most people didn't even get a chance to sign up because they couldn't access the page, it would time out or crash.

So imagine if they'd give you a week's notice, and they had 50,000 people all trying to get on the website.

This doesn't really matter, as the signup was already closed after 2 minutes. Greater exposure wasn't really needed.

Got in as well, I think. :) The message shown after hitting "send" wasn't that clear. Haven't gotten an email yet but maybe it will arrive closer to the 15th?

Me, I'm just happy to hear the game is already in beta :) .

Beta testing is a lot of work, and beta testing a beast like an Eugen series game even more so, probably. Can be a lot of fun, too, though, and sure, wouldn't mind getting one of those keys, but I'm looking forward to YouTubers getting their hands on let's play copies more ;) .

I am hopefully in, after i could enlist a second time on Twitter.
Makes me really happy and hope to see you all soon on the battlefield! :)

Damn... I have managed to get in, but with all the hassle I forgot to update my date of birth and left it at 2017. Guess I won't see you guys on Wednesday :(

how do you know... did they email you back?

No, at the end I saw the promt everybody else got "info sent" or something. I just remember being surprised the date of birth in the form was pre filled with 01-01-2017 and being in a huge hurry, just changed the day and month. Totally forgot about the year. And I think they will use some sort of automation system to sew off corrupted applications. so I am screwed :(
